NCAA Football Suggestion

In MLB you cannot discuss the hiring of a new manager during the playoffs and world series..... In the NBA you cannot hire a new coach during the NBA Finals.... In the NFL no hirings allowed during the week of and week prior to the Super Bowl..... Yes there are all professional sports but why can't we accept these same policies in college sports..... Why can't we wait until after the Bowl season is over before making coaching changes..... Why can't we move back recruiting until January..... That still leaves the student athlete 8 months before practice starts..... Don't give me any b.s. about students enrolling early so they can practice in Spring practice.... Over 65 percent of the freshman are red shirted..... Only 15% of new recruits enroll early..... So why can't the NCAA say coaches can not switch schools until after all the bowl season..... This way the coaches can prepare their team for a bowl game without any distractions..... I think each athlete should deserve their due respect..... They want to go out winners but that's difficult with interim coaching staff.....

Yes! This is what I have been saying for years! The big change would be to push back national signing day a month. Then enact a rule that no AD can contact a coach until that coach's season is complete.

They could also add an "early" signing period, like other sports have, to solve some of those problems.

Aren't they moving the recruiting dead period to try and help eliminate this?

This will never happen. Fact is the bowls are not that important unless it's a bcs game. Recruiting is the only thing anyone cares about and it all takes place in the month of December. If a coach takes a new job in January he will lose an entire recruiting class...

This can probably never happen...legally.
I believe it's because the NBA and MLB are union based organizations where these things have all been negotiated out and the coaches and teams are bound by labor agreements/collective bargaining requirements. There isn't any such animal with the NCAA. Therefore, they have no authority to keep coaches from pursuing other jobs, which would be a violation of their right to work where they choose.
The NCAA, while a behemoth business, is not a professional sport.

The bowls are considered the post-season for a reason. Once the conference championship games are concluded, its open season for coaching changes. I don't think anything will ever change in this regard as the P5 schools are going to want the flexibility to bring in someone in December to begin recruiting for January and February.
