Hey, what about Pitt?

Surprised not much being said here about our opponent. Hopefully we do not get too caught up in the DC departure and all the other balderdash and forget the next challenge.
I can't help to think back to the '85 season - 11-0. Denny Stolz boasting his Falcons were the best team EVER to play MAC football - then the Cal Bowl beat-down, 7-51. Stolz stiffed us royal. So much for feeling good about that wonderful MAC championship.
Not going to lump DC in that same boat, but think it is a same he will not be coaching the team come game time. Say want you will. It is not right.

A buddy of mine went to Pitt. His money is on BG. Said our D will destroy their O line ...

BG may have some trouble with Aaron Donald, most disruptive player since Suh.

I like BG in this game...our offense is clicking on all cylinders and the D is, well, great as usual.

BG wins 34-20.

Given the coaching situation and some of the players Pitt has, I am worried about this game. Donald is a beast on defense and they have two very athletic receivers in Street and Boyd. We have to get pressure on Savage and not let him have time to throw because these guys can get open. We can win this game, but will have to play the same way we did against NIU.

This is nothing like the Cal bowl. Bowls were so much more special back then. It was a rare occurence to go to one and we certainly weren't nearly guaranteed one with just 6 or 7 wins like we almost are now.

Don't get me wrong, I want to beat Pitt and destroy them badly, but we won a title...the first one in decades...so if we lose...yeah it will suck, but I would more have a reaction like, meh.

Aaron Donald won:
Chuck Bednarik Award
Outland Trophy
Vince Lombardi/Rotary Award
Bronko Nagurski Award

Going to be a great matchup with BG's interior lineman. Could be a big money making day for Chief with a good showing against Donald.

We just need to contain Dorsett and put some pressure on Marino.

My sentiments exactly.
This game gets out of hand in Pitt's favor: DC doesn't sleep for weeks.

Quick thing on Pitt. The best defensive player we have seen all year long is Khalil Mack. The guy does everything on D. Aaron Donald may be just as good if not a better player on the D line. He's as disruptive as they get. If Matt Schilz were the QB he would spend most of the game picking himself up. Matt Johnson brings the mobility to the game but still, pocket protection is going to be a big deal come game time. There is no way to prep for a guy like Donald.

The interior of our OL...Flew, Chief (1st team) and Huettel (2nd team)... were All-MAC this year. This could be the match up that decides the game...

That OL kicked the crap out of our front seven!

Looked like boys versus men.

Our defense was my biggest disappointment!

This game was lost when Clawson left.

Agreed 100%. The players lost their general for the game and it showed. No disrespect to Coach Scheier who was in an unenviable position and did a good job bridging the gap from the Clawson regime to the Babers regime.
