Arkansas State: Blake Anderson will earn an annual salary of $700,000. His buyout is absolutely an indication that Arkansas State officials are tired of the instability at the head coaching position. Anderson's buyout is $3 million, $3 million, $2 million, $2 million, $1 million. Obviously, it's a 5-year deal. Here is our story.
We paid 400k for 5 years I think.

I honestly wish we had the balls to put a ridiculous buyout on a coach early. If clawson had one, wake might've looked a little harder at lembo than clawson.

I'd agree, but contracts are a two-way street and I'm not sure how many coaches/agents would go for a $400k/year contract that has a $1 million-plus buyout. Though I'd like to think we've tried.
Saw something about Babers' contract today and it said it's $400k base, plus incentives for grades and on-field performance, with an escalating buyout each year.

The buyout clauses will help mid-majors survive the coaching carousel, its a smart move by the schools to do this. If coaches don't want to accept a contract with a buyout, I guess they don't want to be a head coach then. Equal risk being shared by both sides.
