Great Start for the Rockets!

They held UConn to a FG and then called a brilliant throw-back pass on the kickoff that was smothered. I'm rooting for Toledo, but it's really tough.

I'm rooting for a blimp crash. Not Amstutz, I mean an actual dirigible.

If a blimp runs into Ford Field at a very low rate of speed, they'll probably have to cancel the game, nobody will be hurt, and there won't be much damage.

Everybody wins.

Hmmm....UConn just ran one back for a TD.
Its already hard rooting for a rival for the sake of league success, but its even harder when they let a dude wearing eyeblack in a dome take one back 90 yards.

...and then I realize UT's QB wearing eye black, too and a small part of me dies.

I was personally a fan of them running the "QB goes out wide, and the RB takes the snap" play.

Looks like Tommy was paying attention to that play, even if Lou West wasn't.

17-7 UCONN right now... that sounds vaguely familiar...

My MAC loyalty ends at Marshall and Toledo. Sorry, but I hope UCONN makes all the adjustments we didn't and runs them out of the building.

It is Bad for the MAC if Toledo gets dumped. They better have a second half agains these guys like they did against us.

UConn just got another FG to end the first half up 30-7. Sounds similar to what the score on 11/23 was. This one is over as far as I'm concerned unless UT scores on a 4th and long bomb to Lance Moore on the first possession and then UConn inexplicably stops running their customary offense. If I hear about Godkowski's broken hand one more time, I'm gonna scream.

Gradkowski is sitting the second half out. UT is toast.

well at least council gave their D a little rest in the second half with some OK drives. It coulda been worse. I hate UT but this looks bad. The MAC champ gets pummeled by a team who has been in 1-a for three years.

As hard as it was I had to root for Toledo and for the MAC, lets hope the Redhawks and Huskies make us feel a little better than Toledo and Marshall.

Hell, a team that had been I-A for no years won four straight MAC championships a few years back. Somehow, the conference survived.

It is what it is. Toledo got beat.

When Miami and Northern beat Iowa State and Troy, nobody outside of Storrs and Northwest Ohio will remember this game.

I can not and never will root for Toledo but that was painful to watch. That might've even been uglier than the UC/Marshall game. Toledo can use the whole Brucey/Scooter injury thing but that looked like a football team that wasn't ready to play. The execution on the throwback on the ko return and the botched fake punt was less than stellar. At least they didn't embarrass the MAC this time by starting a brawl at halftime.

Go Redhawks and Huskies.

Yes but there is a difference between being the best in 1-aa and just being a 1-aa team. Toledo slipped back to its week one ways. Its apparent that Uconns recent success in basketball has afforded them a chance to upgrade their football program.

With Marshall playing UC you at least have the Herds coach talking up how he considered his team a CUSA program since the end of the regular season. So be it. They left the MAC a loser, they entered CUSA a loser. Some of the TV talking heads have even been describing the MAC as having four bids, not five. So that game was a write-off.

I didn't bother rooting for LDU, through experience I've learned never to overestimate their ability to take a good thing and screw it up.

There was sweet irony in the fact their fake punt ended with a fumble and UConn score. There was sweeter irony in how they finally get a healthy kicker and let one get run back for a touchdown.

I personally think their QB was stopped on this 1 yard TD "push." Take that away, and they were effectively shut-out, which even with the injury excuses, shouldn't have happened.

Their QB didn't have any major issues beating Miami. Historically they haven't had issues finding somebody to run the ball well, and they have a host of backs that are supposed to be very good. We have had to endure a season of groundless hype over how "good" their defense was.

The game was so lop-sided though, all the injury excuses can't cover the fact they were not ready to play and UConn clearly was. Their rolling over and dying last night only exposes deeper flaws they have to contend with next year.

They had issues. I am looking forward to next November more and more.

They have probably quickly gone back to hating their team like they did after the first two weeks of the season. I remember their boards at the beginning of the year. They were all talking as if Toledo football was dead.
