Quick thoughts on the Baylor O ...
For a wide spread offense, I'm impressed with the offensive line's physicality. Normally you think of finesse and technique, but not toughness.
And on the above point, I'm impressed with the running game. Very physical.
The receivers do a lot of downfield blocking.
Matt Johnson could be extremely successful in this kind of offense. Also, I expect having running backs and receivers with a variety of styles could benefit greatly. We've got quickness in Greene, raw power in Houston, and a blend in Coppet. Then we've got raw speed with Ronnie Moore and Ryan Burbrink, some height in Chris Gallon, and good power in the TE. That variety plus a smart QB in an up tempo offense can cause a defensive coordinator to develop insomnia.

Baylor seemed to be out of sync on offense and they scored 42 points.

I think our talent fits to the scheme pretty well, but I do worry about Johnson in it. A MAJOR part of what makes that offense tick is the willingness to stretch the field vertically as well as horizontally. That's one of the biggest differences between what Baylor does and what some of the other spread offenses do. That's Matt's biggest weakness, and my biggest concern in this offense.

He improved a lot as the season went on though, so I'm hoping that he can continue to that arc.

It's going to be a fun ride.

I just hope we do not use lettering for nameplates that are the same color of the jerseys. Looks more stupid than gray jerseys.

Flashy uniforms get the flashy recruits. I'll take ugly uniforms in a high profile bowl vs. ranked opponent. My eyes were not impressed by our uniforms or Baylor's uniforms but I guess it's a sign my style is no longer in style (or ever really was).

On the offensive side (not uniforms) I think an offense like Baylor could adapt to our personnel. Obviously there are parts that we will need to tweak to fit our skill set. The AD better make sure ROTC has enough blanks for the cannon and the scoreboard is in good repair.

Baylor O looked gimmicky. UCF ran an offense more similar to the one we run now. I think what matters more is the talent on the field….

If we commit that many penalties in a game next year, I might not watch another game after that point.

I agree.......between the penalties and their defense, I was NOT impressed with Baylor. I certainly hope we don't try and copy too much of their program.

Their offense is predicated on finding defensive mismatches and exploiting them. A good defense and even one with a strong four 4 can wreak havoc on that type of offense. We'll see how it pans out, I thought Baylor looked pretty disinterested for the first 10 minutes of the game and it may have cost them.

I'm not advocating all things Baylor as I'm still somewhat of a skeptic myself but I think that UCF team was pretty good. They were 3 points away from being undefeated just losing to South Carolina. Baylor still went 11-2 and scored a ton of points.

The whole Baylor/BG comparison is brutally silly. They have a bunch of 3/4/5-star athletes out there. We play in the MAC. Yes, the offensive concepts will be extremely similar, but that is it. Baylor winning/losing any game has zero affect on what we will do next season. As far as people saying they want nothing to do with what Baylor is doing, if we are going to make direct comparisons, I wouldn't have a problem going 11-2 and playing in a BCS bowl game.

Exactly. Baylor was the dregs if the big 12 before Dino and Briles and company got there. The caliber if athletes they got to that school still blows my kind. Major kudos to them.

And I still say their offensive system is bar none the best in college football right now.
