Rashuain Stover?

Post by Germainfitch1 »

Did I miss something? Did Rashauin Leave? He is not listed on the roster. What the frig? I thought he had the makings of something very special.

It has been reported here that his grades were slipping. Brandon told him to hit the books. He is not on the team at this point.

I assume if he can get his act together, Brandon would take him back. But I'm not sure we can hold out hope for that.

I agree with you -- he was going to be very special.

Also not listed on the roster is Andrew Campbell, who I believe was a prize defensive line recruit last year. Any news on this?

Stover may have been the best back on the roster, which is saying something given what Pope has shown us over the past two seasons.

RE: Campbell ... I remember hearing that he's not on the team, but it's all pretty hazy right now. Old age is a terrible thing ... Image

I really hope Stover can get things in order. I feel he could be a very good player that could pay dividends for us down the road.

You know, sometimes we get a little addicted to people's ratings coming out of high school. They are trying to project an 17 year old into the future. Its a dicey thing. Think of how people might have projected each of us at that time....hmm. Those are years of big change.

Maybe Stover wasn't what we thought. Maybe there's a reason he was such a strong HS player but not recruited into the Big 10. Maybe there's a reason Minnestoa backed off Virgil Robinson...etc.

O & B, normally I'm with you here. There are so many guys that look like superstar talents coming out of HS that never end up being good enough to play D1A ball. But, I don't think that is Raishaun at all.

The few times we saw him he looked absolutely explosive with good moves. He really hit the holes hard, and I liked that. I think this is a 100% case of him not getting it done in the classroom, and that cost him any shot at getting on the field. That's unfortunate.

hammb hit it on the head. When Stover was on the field, he clearly had the skills to be something special. This isn't a matter of speculation, IMO.

I'm no expert, but I'll say that once in a while, a player really stands out for reasons that are hard to explain.

Omar did that for me. I remember him performing mop up duty in some game in '03. I remember him launching the ball 40 or 50 yards, a rocket, almost on a line and *overthrowing* his receiver. I'm not even sure he had his feet set, either.

I can't remember Harris ever throwing a pass like that, God bless him ... and it was at that point that I realized we might have something very, very special in Omar.

Winovich has shown some flashes like this this season... and I remember seeing the same kind of flash from Stover in mop up duty. Every time Stover got on the field, I began to wonder... now why is he fourth on the depth chart again?

I know some of you have had the same feeling, too.

If there is a chance that Stover can get his act together and work his way back on the team, I hope he does. He strikes me as too talented not to be playing Division I football.

Was that the EKU game to start the year? I remember seeing him come in, and half the group I was with was praising him, the other half was saying stuff about how they thought he looked awkward and threw an ugly ball, then he throws this tight spiral way downfield (I was in the Falcon Club tent, so there was no depth perception), and I think Sharon made the grab. It was right about then that I figured we'd be all right after Josh graduated... :D

Yeah...that was the EKU game. I was on the phone with my father who was just outside the stadium and he was asking when I was going to leave. I then stated that I wanted to see one more touchdown and then Omar put it up in the air. I asked my dad to hold on for a sec and as the ball was arcing down toward Lett I said to him I think we can go now. Ended up being a 71 yard touchdown....that ball was in the air at least forty yards. Just a glimpse of things to come! ::Grin::

Ah, it was Lett. Most of what I remember from that game is some Sharon kid dropping a couple easy passes. Whatever happened to him, anyway?
