WR next year (because you are all on)
Since there seems to be alot of people on right now. Based of the 30 people who read the Stover post in under five minutes.
I pose this question. Who will fill the wholes made by Cole Magner, Hawkins and McGrady.
I think Brandon Jones clearly has a handle on one of the spots while Kenneth Brantley and Derrick Lett have the inside track on the other two spots. With Sharon and Sanders both seniors next year who steps up in these 3 spots will be every important.
The only problem I really see is that these three are somewhat more slight in build compared to Magner, Hawkins and McGrady.
Others in the mix that I have heard about (in my order) : Benjy Kennedy, Gregory Hutcherson, Marques Parks, Van Johnson, Corey Partridge, Matt Emans, Matt Sinnriech

Do you read what others post at all or just randomly post? Many of the questions you posted today and in the past have clearly been discussed at length . . .
However, I would be very interested in hearing how you feel Brandon Jones has the "inside" track on one of the receiver spots since he never sniffed the field this year and the coaches have continually listed redshirt freshmen Parks and Partridge on the depth charts and/or talk insesstantly about them . . .

Jones has more receptions than anyone else.
And yes I do just randomly post.
I dont read every post. I search for titles and then read the ones I think I would find interesting.
Did you not see the part where i wrote I pose this question. Meaning that Iw anted outside insite. I was not taking my word as gospel at all. Instead of giving insight in a mature manner you were rude.

Jones had what, three catches this year to one for Brantley and Lett. And that "clearly" gives Jones one of the vacant spots. Heck some of these new recruits we've been rumored to be in the running for could very well fill one or two of the open slots. Let's wait until signing day to see what we have coming in in next year's class.
I'm not getting into a discussion about message board etiquette, but a simple search would've shown various threads discussing many of the same ideas. That's all.
Lett, Jones and Brantley have the most experience, but for various reasons have never played.
I would be shocked if Partridge and Parks are not a part of the equation next year in some form.
Hutcherson, unfortunately, has yet to live up to the hype as one of the top 75 receivers nationwide two years ago coming out of HS.

This is usch a hard question to answer because our depth has kept so many of these kids off the field. I know Kennedy and Hutcherson were highly regarded coming out of HS, but that doesn't mean anything.
I thought Jimmy Carson might be that little speed guy that you can line up in the slot and throw those little dink screens a la Lance Moore, but he showed a greater talent for playing his stereo loud than playing football.
Maybe someone should have installed a kicker box on his ass....

It would be great for us to take a real stud athlete and put them in the defensive backfield. Is Magner that kid? Who knows.OptionQB wrote:Yeah! at defensive back . . . There's no reason to subject Rhett to the kinds of comparisons he would have to endure by playing him in the slot or at wide-out . . . Put him at DB where we could use speed or someone that can actually cover
I have a lot of hope for our DBs in the next year or two - Perry & Dozier in particular, but they have a lot to prove next year, especially with a trip to Boise State on the docket.

I think this is a valid point. We could have some hidden gems who couldn't crack our lineup of receivers.Flipper wrote:This is usch a hard question to answer because our depth has kept so many of these kids off the field. Exactly to expect him to come hear and be the mirror image of his brother is absurd. Let him be his own person. From what I have read about him in the Alaska papers, I do not think he will be as good as Cole. But I'm sure nobody thought Cole would be as good as he was.OptionQB wrote:Yeah! at defensive back . . . OptionQB......???
What makes you say that Hutcherson hasn't lived up to expectations yet? For Petes Sake he hasn't played a down yet of football yet, so to say that he isn't good enough seems quite premature. I for one hope does prove his billing , cuz we need another big reciever to compliment Sanders. And as for this Marques Parks , never seen him on our list of supposed recruits yet anyway, so assuming he's "already" in a our lineup seems quite premature. If Coach Brandon gets his way, we'll probably see Cory Partridge at WR next year. If he really does run a 4.3 40 or so he's gonna give some nice speed too. I don't know about Kennedy. He's allegedly runs a 4.3 40 as well, but I believe I heard Newsome say at an early coaches show once that Kennedy might be moved to a saftey spot. Kenneth Brantely has shown some good skills in the scrimmages that I've seen.

Don't know where you come up with some of your alleged "ideas" but Marques Parks is on the CURRENT roster, not on a "list of supposed recruits". As to Hutcherson, I was told by someone in a position to know that his speed is what is holding him back... You're right in saying we could use another tall receiver and he could be the answer...but we may never know for sure.
