MAC President's Salaries

Post by Rollo83 »

The Chronicle of Higher Education just released its survey of "Executive Compensation at Public Universities." With all the talk around professors/teachers salaries as we hired a new football and basketball coach recently, it is intresting to see were the MAC schools fall among the 256 college presidents listed.

http://chronicle.com/article/Executive- ... /#id=table

MAC Presidents "Reported" Compensation and National Rank

1. John Dunn (Western Michigan) $776,062 (18)
2. Satish Tripathi (Buffalo) $681,139 (29)
3. Lestor Lefton (Kent State) $635,843 (46)
4. Mary Ellen Mazey (BG) $600,149 (55)
5. David Hodge (Miami) $596,481 (57)
6. Roderick McDavis (OU) $596,024 (58)
7. Lloyd Jacobs (Toledo) $585,211 (63)
8. Luis Proenza (Akron) $547,150 (73)
9. Jo Ann Gora (Ball State) $484,160 (93)
10. John Peters (NIU) $423,988 (120)
11. George Ross (CMU) $423,124 (121)
12. Eastern Michigan was not listed (private school?)

The number one name on the list? None other than G. Gordon Gee of the Ohio State University at $6,057,616.

EMU is fully public. It has to be some clerical error.

In all honesty, they're probably more productive than most MAC presidents.

Okay, I'm kidding.

However, it should be noted that all of the OSU coaching salaries come from Athletic Department funds, which are totally separate from academic funding at the university. The athletic department is self-sustaining. One of only about a dozen or so nationally that are.

Miguel Cabrera makes $50,000 every time he strides to the plate and he has a 10 year contract. Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus are both worth over $125 million dollars but I think they're actually the same person.
