Terrible news to hear, I'll let the judicial system play out before commenting but it goes without saying that anything rape related shouldn't be taken lightly. Good chance for coach Babers to set an example that this type of behavior won't be tolerated.

First things first, I have no patience, no understanding for men who take advantage sexually of others.
Now ... let's all remember as this develops that he his presumed innocent until proven guilty. Right now there are allegations, but he has not been tried nor found guilty. That all being said, I hope Coach Babers indefinitely suspends him. Houston has far more to worry about right now than football. And if he indeed is guilty, I can only assume he will be kicked off the team and removed from the university.
Terrible actions by Houston if true.

The young man comes from a good family and there's been no history (we know of) that says he has had problems in the past. So my hope is that the charges are false and this does not end up ruining his football career and potentially his life. We've all seen situations like this before, where it looks really bad initially and ends up with the player being cleared.
So patience is the word here as we wait for the system to grind and an outcome to be reached.

I'm gonna take a wait and see attitude...I'm OK with suspending him pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings, but I don't think you should kick him off the team and out of school based solely on an accusation

I'll retract from my adios comment but I'm not going ride the innocent until proven guilty train either. This looks bad and reports like this are typically not made up. Charges may ultimately even be dropped but that doesn't always mean nothing happened either. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah...I tend to think coaches use the "let the legal system sort it out" thing as a crutch sometimes. As fans, it's tough for us to really judge because (rightly so) we don't get all the facts. I guess ultimately we just have to put our trust in the coach and the AD to do the right thing.

The universtity conducted it's own investigation, as it well should have, but it seems a little odd to me that they went ahead and pulled the trigger on announcing a punishment before the criminal case is even heard. In checking the court docket, the criminal case looks to be in the very early stages and could drag on for quite some time, unless some type of plea gets reached, which of course, can be a common occurrence. I wonder what the university would say if the charges were dropped or he is ultimately found not guilty? That might put them in an uncomfortable position. They must have found something in their investigation that's pretty damming for them to move foward on the long suspension at this point.
Regardless of what happens from here, I would say the chances of him ever being back on the field in a BG uniform are about as slim as they could possibly be. Very unfortunate. A young man messed up his life and lost a great opportunity, who knows what the effects are on the alleged victim and the football team lost a guy who would have been a valuable contributor. We lined up on a 3rd and 1 near the goal line on Friday and didn't even come close to making it. I'm sure we all were lamenting the Houston situation at that point. I just wonder how many more times this year we are going to feel the effects of what happened with him.
