Favorites to win the MAC no more

Toss the polls out by the media and the coaches. EVERY team we see in the MAC this year will watch this game. We are not scaring anyone and WKU just mapped out a blueprint how to beat the s**t out of us. Right now I wouldn't want to play UMass after that debacle. Sure, we'll turn around next weekend and beat VMI 70-7, but this game showed us what we actually have as opposed to what we've been hearing and we, right now, are crap.

It's one game...it was a piss poor effort, but it's one game. Frankly...given all the hype we had about the offense and everything else, maybe a good hard reality check is the best thing that could have happened. We aren't going to win just by showing up. It will be interesting to see how the team reacts

Yeah, definitely agree... sad to see a defense that was a pure joy to watch get absolutely torched tonight. Week 2 should be better... or we could be in for a long, long year. Right now the jury is out.

Everyone relax....not the way we want to start but losing this game does not mean we can't reach our goals. We have work to do. Deep breaths....

To be clear, I'm not saying we can't win the MAC, I'm saying we're not the favorite to anymore - IMO. You know the rest of the MAC looked at us tonight and now knows they can beat us. Tomorrow either Ohio or Kent State will be 1-0 in the MAC East and they become a front runner by default after what we put up tonight.

70-7? VMI might put up 40.

Yes, I actually have little doubt that we will will come out next week and throttle VMI. They are an FCS team and not even a good one at that. So whether we beat them by a little or a lot, it really doesn't matter as I'm not worried about next week, I am worried about the rest of the season, especially the eight games against MAC opponents. They will see what Western Kentucky did and they will attack us in similar ways. This is a blueprint for others to use, now it's a matter of if we can make some...any...kind of adjustments and improvements to not allow it to happen to us again.
So if and when we "look" much better next week, that's fine, but how are we going to look when we match up against our peers again? That is the question.
