FAQ's

Currently if you click on FAQ in the banner above, you get questions about the forums themselves... how they work, etc.
I'd like to put together a real frequently asked questions document that we can refer newcomers to and that answers some of the most "re-asked" questions that show up here.
For starters:
We don't play Michigan in Football in '05!!!
Also something like, "Please visit '
www.bucknuts.com' for all your Buckeye discussion, pro or con..."
Etc...
Please add legitimate questions (and their verified answers) to this thread and I'll start compiling an FAQ.

I'd say one pointer is to read the threads before you post a new one. All the time someone comes on here and tries to start a thread that is already started. Its much easier to keep up with the threads when there are less to look through.
But yes telling them that the site that says we play UM and Wyoming next year would be a start.

Don't ask how recruiting is going unless you do a search for words like "verbal" and "commit".

How about what the known schedule is for future years and when we can expect them to be released. I mean, most of us know our OOC games for a few years and we also know the MAC schedule doesn't come out till March, but we contantly get threads started on this.
Hey, don't we play Michigan next year?

Grant, here's today's thread on this subject.

Well, future Falcon schedules would be something people tend to ask about.
Also, do we need one which has current verbals and commits? That's another one people tend to wander on and want to know.
At one point, we could have used the three-way tie-breaking procedure for the MAC, but that's probably unlikely to come up again.

Not to be a wet blanket or anything, but keeping some sort of recruiting list current would require some significant maintenance.
Grant, I think an FAQ would be well-served by a list of links to relevant sites. I.E. "For recruiting news, check out these sites ... To discuss Ohio State athletics, check out these sites", etc.

I think everyone that wants to know recruiting news knows where to find it, but a page, or a sticky thread, or something listing verbals shouldn't be too tough, or at least the verbals that are mentioned in threads here. Maybe not for this year, since there's only a month and change until signing day, but in the future, if a name comes up in say July that we got a verbal from a kid, throw him on a list, and hopefully people will check there before they ask if we have any verbals in November.
As for the OSU and such. Same story. If you're that big of a fan that you're going to smother a BG board with OSU babbling, you probably know where to find their boards. No need to drag our fine site down with a link to OSU fan sites.

TG:
I'll admit that I really don't have many recruiting-related sources as I'd like. Also, the Buckeye thing was a little more tongue-in-cheek, as in "before you start a thread talking about OSU, why not just go to their freakin' site so we can focus on the Falcons!"

Well if you woulda put it like that, there would have been no room for misinterpretation, would there?
Maybe a list of recruiting links wouldn't be a bad thing to go with a list of "confirmed verbals", too.

I'll bet someone here would volunteer to maintain such a page, which would be a fantastic addition.

I agree. The links are too sites which are generally for pay, and also inaccurate. Traditionally, during recruiting season, people have done this informally, anyway.

How about:

And you know what that question started, don't you?

You guys should check out the FB and BB recruting threads maintained by NickSkin over on MHT if you're interested in starting that sort of thing--I'm sure he could offer some pointers on where he gets all his information and the like. (There are times when I'm convinced he must be in the NSA given all the stuff he digs up.)
