Injuries?

No one has mentioned much, but I'm getting concerned about accumulating injuries, especially to the WR group. Ronnie Moore hobbled off the field, and , while he returned, didn't seem to as much a factor. Also, Gehrig Dieter seemed to have suffered a knee injury that didn't look good as he was treated on the sidelines.
While Roger Lewis HAD to get most accolades, Ryan Burbrink had some HUGE clutch catches. But if we need to go past the 2 deep WR's, it could be a major hit as we're also not very big at the position. (Sizewise)

By the way D.J. Lynch was walking on the sideline, I don't think he'll be back any time soon.
Didn't see Colvin on the sideline at all. Not sure what his status is.
Moore tweaked an ankle and Dieter his knee. Moore returned but was hobbling. Dieter never came back in the game.
Jude, Martin, Croley and Hunter all went off with injuries for the defense but returned to the game I believe.
My biggest hope is we come out of the Wisconsin game with no major injurries. Wining isn't my number one concern. If they sit some of the guys hobbling, I am OK with that too. Need to get ready for the MAC the following week at UMASS.

Babers said today that another defensive player will be out against Wisconsin but didn't specify who.

I didn't like the way Hunter was holding his wrist when he left. Soon after coming off the field, he was taken to the locker room. If he came back into the game, then I missed it. We are already struggling in the defensive backfield and sure don't need to lose him.

I didn't see Hunter come back either. It was an injury to his right arm, shoulder or wrist. He was clearly frustrated as he was flexing his other arm and sort of hitting himself with it and looked to be yelling.
Also, did anyone notice what looked like a cast/club on Ward's left hand/wrist? It was covered with a black wrap but it looked like he had no use of his left hand and fingers. It was very visible on his fumble recovery.

Wisconsin is not the best team to play if you're already having injury issues. They are one of those teams that historically beat up physically on opponents, even if they don't win the game.
As already expressed: if they need to sit folks to get them healthy for the MAC season, then do it. I don't really care if they win Saturday, because the odds of it happening are pretty slim, anyway. Collect the big payday, and don't suffer any more injuries...oh and have fun!

I did see that. It was a good thing that fumble popped into his right hand. Maybe when the Nike contract kicks in we will get brown wrap for the guys wearing casts

Saw D.J. on campus this morning. He was walking with a pretty noticeable limp. However, as was mentioned somewhere before, no crutches. Not that that really means anything.

If we beat Wisconsin it will be one of the best wins the program has ever had. Sitting players seems defeatist. If the game gets away from us and you want to get players more rest go for it. But sitting players that would otherwise play, I don't want to follow a team that does that.

Agree 100%. A win would be monumental for the program, the Babers era, recruiting, etc. Are the odds slim? Yes, but so were the odds against Minnesota in 2007, Pitt in 2008, etc. If the game gets out of hand and we have no ability to claw back into it then yes, play some backups to get some real experience. But if we are very much in this game, keep the stars in because with our fast paced offense, we can theoretically keep up with anyone.

Did they ever release what injury Johnson had, I know it was listed as a hip injury but that's very vague. Just wondering from a prognosis point of view.

Every player mentioned is listed on the latest depth chart for Wisconsin (page 8).

In Coach Babers press conference yesterday he mentioned we lost "another D starter" for some time. I'm assuming its Hunter? Re-aggravated wrist / arm?

Safety Ryland Ward had a soft cast on his hand and did not practice.
Cornerback Darrell Hunter had his right arm in a brace that forced him out of the Indiana game.
Linebacker DJ Lynch remains out with an apparent knee injury. He was limping badly on the sidelines of the Indiana game.
Defensive end Zach Colvin still has not practiced with an undisclosed injury.
Wide receiver Gehrig Dieter also did not practice with what was an apparent knee injury in the Indiana game.

It's amazing how beat up the defense is. I really hope this won't be a trend with the way the offense plays but it has me sincerely worried that the defense simply can't seem to shake the injury bug this season. Our corners are down to Jude, Johnson and Clint Stephens.
