"When this team becomes complete, watch out..."

Excellent quote from Coach in the post game presser. Yeah, it's been downright ugly at times this season. But dammit, we're 4-2, 2-0 MAC and getting better. Still a lot to work on but progress was made today.

Wasn't last year's team in a similar position at this point in the season? Big road trip next weekend.

After losing to tsun last year, we were 5-3, 3-1 MAC. Ran the table the rest of the way until the bowl game.

The defense had a few headache inducing and penalty filled drives. But they tightened up when they needed and ultimately made the last big plays yo decide the game.
An observation I had today ... the team feeds off each other. The defense had a lot of energy when they made a stop to put the offense out. The offense was loaded with energy and scored the game winning TD in a minute flat. Then the D came to the field and anyone could tell how hyped they were and forced a fourth down stop. I like how much each unit impacts each other unit.
Also of note, the team is 3-0 in shootouts. Winning tight games sure feels great!

Still a lot to work on however. Penalties are a huge concern and the team is lucky that blocked field goal after the delay of game penalty didn't cost them the game. I want to see more consistency from series to series and hopefully the second half today will provide a foundation for that.

Just got back from a wedding and saw that last few minutes n ESPN3 (I love ESPN3). That game winning drive was jaw dropping...80 yards, four plays in 45 seconds? OK....
I thought this would be the week that the D came through with a big game...they were a half late, but that's OK. Two straight weeks it's come down to our horrible, Godawful, worst in history defense needing to make a stop to win and two straight weeks they've shut them down. Awesome.....

They still need to put together full games to run the table but they are obviously improving.

He also said, and I think this is more or less a direct quote: "I don't know if we are going to win another game..." He meant it in the sense that he isn't a prognosticator, and he wanted to savor the win rather than talk about the weeks to come. Still: I winced.
Dino Babers' post game remarks sometimes have a Joe Biden quality to them: Loveable, unscripted enthusiasm, and some of the gaffes that go along with that.

And thank God we didn't get flagged for offsides on the missed UB FG with 3 min left...we jumped but got back in time. That was TOO close. The penalties are a definite concern.
