gratz!
but quite honestly, I was cheering for the sword[of Troy] to win. After the conference was a total and complete failure, i wanted BG to be the only team to win. I wasnt cheering against you, just wasnt for you either...
Being as though I havent posted in forever, i shall continue.
It taked F'ing talent to get BLOWN THE HELL OUT by UCONN football, in what is basically a home bowl game. Way to be toledo, way to be.
marshall- you lost to a team that lost to army. Need I say more?
Miami- Iowa st. is garbage, that was a bad loss, just not quite as bad as the 2 blackeyes mentioned above. I am sickened.
suckeyes- [sarcastic clapping] Way to go, you beat a rediculously over-rated team for the 2nd year in a row. I hope you feel proud. What will you do wthout Nugent? O right, lose 8 games next year.
Trev Alberts- last night he totally renigged on his entire platform. saying "maybe these mid-major teams ARE better than BCS teams...." and listing them off. Atta boy Trev, you dislodged your head from your anus, enjoy the non-tainted air you may now breathe freely.

Did anyone else catch last night during the NIU game after NIU scored there second touchdown, the one where Haldi snuck in, one of his offensive lineman in celebration went to jump and grab Haldi but accidently leveled him. Probably one of the best hits I have seen all year. I mean just flattened his own quarterback in celebration. I laughed so hard, because I know that O-lineman felt really bad. I can also just see them watching film and all laughing about it.
I hope someone else saw it.

52,
I DID see it, and laughed also...though I thought for a second Haldi might've been hurt... the hit was THAT solid. Anyway, though I went to bed, glad to hear that NIU won the game... unlike some, I wanted the MAC to look good... 2 wins out of 5 games isn't BAD, compared to some of the "super" conferences, but Miami should've won their game. I didn't see any of the TU-UConn or Marshall-Cincy games as I was still catching up to Christmas with various wings of my family after our delayed travel adventures back from Mobile.
CONGRATS!!

Congrats Huskies.
That hit on Haldi by the o-lineman and the hit on NIU's tight end in the first half were two of the biggest hits this bowl season. Was surprised to hear Pam Ward & Mike Tomczak (they're painful to listen to) talk about Haldi as an NFL prospect. 2-3 in bowls isn't bad but when you consider there were only 3 other MAC wins against D1 non-conference teams this season. Would've liked a Miami win, but the losses by TU and the Herd sure didn't bother me.

I can't imagine Haldi playing in the NFL and J7 not, but who knows how things will play out. NIU is rapidly gaining on Toledo as my most hated MAC rival, but I was rooting for them last night. I thought they were going to lay down (ala California) after the 14-0 deficit, but I have to give Coach Novak and their guys a lot of credit for hanging in and getting the win. Finally someone from the MAC stepped up and got some dignity back for the conference.
Good luck in the recruiting game to the Huskies. Even if we move to the East, I hope NIU stays on our schedule every year because it is growing into a really solid rivalry.

A big hats off to the Huskies. I know that many of their fans were disappointed with the way the bowl thing played out. It would have been a real bummer if the Huskies had cashed it in after falling behind early.
But Novak proved his worth and got his team focused and back on track.
Way to go, Huskies. At least the MAC posted two solid bowl Ws!

Well, I just want to state for the record that must of us were pulling for the MAC in these bowl games.
Was there a certain schadenfreude in seeing Toledo get zonked? You betcha!
But family first.... I think that's how most of us were looking at it.

If "schadenfreude" means giggling like a schoolgirl after botched trickery and outright guffaws after UCONN touchdowns...
...then yes, there was a little of that schadenfreude going on.

I promised my wife I'd break dance in our living room if Toledo lost. Is that what you mean by a "certain Schadenfreude"?

Considering I feel that BG and NIU are the 2 best teams in the MAC, it's great to see us both win! After seeing some embarassing losses from other MAC schools, this was a great win for NIU. Congrats and it's revenge next year

Found this article about NIU's bowl appearance:
http://www.rrstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art ... 30024/1001
"NIU bought all 7,000 tickets it committed to, athletic director Jim Phillips said, and gave away roughly half to local youth groups." So, NIU's fans bought approx. 3,500 tickets that were donated to youth groups, while BGSU fans bought approx. 300 tickets for the youth groups in Mobile.

Congrats Huskies, you all have earned this! It pained me, but I cheered for you guys and was happy to see you guys pull out the bowl win.
About the ticket donation, though, the 3500 tickets that NIU sold accounts for the total number of tickets sold, including those that actually went to the game. I would be willing to bet that NIU fans probably donated more tickets than ours, but not many more. Those were some shadily stated figures!
