Flip,
Interesting that they listed Omar as a "rising senior"... must be some intellectuals on the sports staff who don't know about redshirts?

A big catching tight end to send right up the middle for 10 or 15 yards would be awesome. We got burned by a couple of tight end plays this year. A good receiving tight end would be exciting.

I like it.

I sure hope we are planning on moving some of these TE's to different positions. Isn't this our 4th TE verbal this year? Where's the DL, were only graduating 3 starters next year!!

Dammit, Flipper... you're stealing news from my back yard! Maybe I'll just have to go start my own thread about it... Hmmm...

Yep, it's our, count them, 4th tight end this year . . . If 3 of them aren't moved to different positions then you really have to question this staff. Interesting that Mike Ward was his first contact. Ward is our D-Line coach.

Don't they recruit by geography?

Man I'll tell you what O & B it's getting to seem that way . . . I think we have room for between 20-25 signees . . . Thus far, we're rumored to have 13-14 on board that are "somewhat" confirmed and 4 of them are tight ends? Are you serious? I thought it was interesting that the IndyStar reported 2 scholarshipped tight ends already on the roster (O'Drobinak, Ruiz ???) . . . What about Navarro? Reams? Newman? . . . It makes you wonder what position they're telling these kids they'll play . . . I personally talked to Reams at the Eastern Michigan game and he said "they recruited me as a tight end"

While I agree with this point, they could have toast for breakfast instead of a bagel and you'd find a way to question them.

Overall, I do have differences with many of the philosophies and tendacies of this staff, but even I am not that extreme.

We have glaring holes at several positions and need to signifcantly address depth at others, yet we sign four tight ends when tight ends have caught maybe 10-15 passes in the Gregg Brandon era. Even if you want to introduce a tight end into the spread scheme, you don't need four of them.

The Dayton Daily News ran a feature on Tommy Tamaska this morning. He's a record setting 5-10/200+ lb. running back that the DDN reports has 4.58 speed. Tamaska owns many records at state power Centerville and has yet to receive a D-1 offer. It seems BG could use someone like Tamaska a lot more than we could use another tight end.

I'm not sure I see the point in getting worked up over what's essentially a closed process. Come signing day, I'll worry if all we did is sign TE's, until then, I'm going to keep on googling the term 'Bowling Green football Scholarship' and hanging out on JJ Huddle.

The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press do their annual Fab 50 rankings in the next few weeks. We usually find out at least one or two names from those lists as well.
