Bowl game waiting

Todd Walker just said he thinks we will play on Dec. 20. Several games that day, including the Camellia (Montgomery) and the Potato (Boise).

I think we end up in Boise. Our fans are crushed right now. Fired up fans would make the trip to Montgomery.

Can we add another bowl to the lineup? Maybe we can play SMU in the Toilet Bowl, we just might be able to finally win one.

I gotta hope it's in Montgomery between those two at this point because I can't see is beating a Mountain West team out in Boise at this point. Then again, I can't see us beating a Sun Belt team down south either, but I'd rather take my chances...

Good luck trying to convince fans to shell out money to watch this garbage if they end up going to Boise.

Who gives a crap? I'll watch on TV and hope they win, but honestly, I don't think they deserve a bowl. Then again, neither do half the teams that go. I miss when there were only 15-20 bowls and they actually meant something.

We went 8-3 in Urban's first year, ending with a 43-42 win at Northwestern followed by a 56-21 beatdown of TSUN and still didn't get a bowl.

Simpler times. Bowls aren't a reward anymore.

Let's face it. Whatever bowl bid we "accept" is the bowl we've been demoted to. My guess is we'll being sent to Boise. Why? Because it's the least sought after destination of the MAC bowl tie-ins and frankly, it's where we deserve to go at this point.

A majority of the bowls are just ESPN marketing tools. They own most of them now to drive discussion about the national championship and now the playoff and that's it. You think they really care about the teams playing in a majority of the G5 bowls?

MAC East has fallen on hard times. Maybe Akron will regroup and give it a run next year. This year's MAC Championship was about as bad as it could be. 8-[

Without ESPN the MAC would be paying their coaches about 60k a year.

I don't necessarily agree with that, plus with the lack of ticket sales for whatever bowl picks us, we are going to lose money making the trip to the game.

I agree ESPN has created all these bowls because they can make money off them. Schools like BGSU get the short end. We'll lose a couple hundred thousand flying to wherever, feeding the team, bringing administration, etc. The balance sheet will come out and it will say we broke even, but it will be creative accounting. Unfortunately in all likelihood we'll probably get beat badly again as we limp into the off season.

Sounds like the MAC is trying to do a little wheeling and dealing with NIU. I wondering if it could help up land in a better spot or if it's gonna get the MAC a 6th team in. My guess is the latter.

If we have a hope in hell of winning...and I don't know if we do...the MAC needs to send us anywhere but Idaho. This team isn't mentally capable of playing a good team in that kind of cold.

Bowl announcements are coming at 3pm. Early word is either Camella or Bahamas.

Either would be good IMO. I think the Bahamas is the best destination of all the MAC bowls. How couldn't you get excited as a player getting to go there over the other MAC bowl locations?
