Wow! More news for all the wrong reasons about this team. To think about the buzz we had about this program from a year ago today to now - it seems like a decade ago. First three-game losing streak in years, got destroyed in the MACC, player arrested, can't wait to see what happens next....

Well for the past 4 months I have kept my mouth shut on this. I'm not going to mention any names and you could narrow it down because you need be 21 but my cousin is a dealer at Hollywood Casino in Toledo. And I know these athletes are of age but 8 members of our football team constantly visit Hollywood Casino immediately after morning practice. Some players even go straight from practice without even showering. Should players be able to gamble while on scholarships?? Drinking, Drugs and Gambling. Yes these are 21 year olds and you cannot monitor them 24/7. Ever college has these problems so not what else you could do. Was just curious is gambling as an athlete is legal

Personal use is one thing...dealing is another. Kid could have wound up like Wesley Snipes in New Jack...

Gambling? Really? I thought we were recruting kids that were smarter than that,. The house almost always wins...smart people bet on pro wrestling.

I was joking...should have pushed the sarcasm button.

If he played for a SEC school, ESPN would use this as another example of why college athletes should be paid. I'm sure he was just not getting enough to eat and needed some extra money for food.

I haven't said anything either but the other night my wife and I had a date night at the Casino and walking in right in front of us was a player in his full BG athletic department sweats. I knew immediately who it was because of the state his vehicle plates were from and he parked like he owned the place.

This was the Monday or Tuesday of the Championship game. He is old enough but to see a player there gambling alone...it bothered me.

I've already made those comparisons in my head, but that's unfair to compare this coach to a previous one. Instead, I like to see the issues that are occurring as a new set of problems, and I'm eager to see how he handles the situation. Does the kid get suspended from the team immediately and then only reinstated if he's found not guilty or the charges are dropped? Do we go all Jameis Winston and just pretend everything's good? How this situation is handled will tell me a lot about the coaching staff we currently have.

And gambling? I think it's only an NCAA or legal issue if the players are betting on BGSU football games. If they are just going there to play cards, slots, roulette, etc., then I'm not sure if it would be an issue. When it comes to BGSU, it should be an issue, especially when "full cost of attendance" comes into play. Then the players are taking this extra stipend and gambling it away.

Who cares if players are gambling? It's their money, they can do whatever they want. And for the record, players were doing it last year too so I don't see what the point is.

WHO CARES!!!! I DO. The money my parents and I and other donors who donate to the Falcon Club are spent on our student athletes gambling. These students don't have jobs. They don't have incomes. I work hard for my and so do others and we donate money to the university for scholarships and to help the athletic department. Not to be gambled away. I'm glad others have seen our students gambling. I bet they feel the same way. I'm ok with athletes having a social life but gambling away money gets to me. What would happen if the casino have these athletes 'free meals'. That is a NCAA violation. Wonder if anyone thought of that?
