Its good to see someone recognize our talent before the season, and not once we have won a bunch in a row for a change. Though I do not agree with the statement that most of the receiving coprs is gone. There still three guys who caught at least 50 passes.

And with no mention of Wisconsin, not even outside of the top 25 I am guessing that they are losing a lot. Boise St is 18.

It's a smart choice.

I think there is an outside chance we could be in one of the two preseason Top 25s. (Outside!)

We'll see how the off-season buzz starts to go. I think we are a heavy favorite to win the West... but will sportswriters reach that conclusion on their own?

One more thought: Sportswriters don't necessarily learn about Bowling Green on their own. J.D. Campbell may be working 'em quietly, and this may be evidence of this.

In other words, don't assume that because BGSU doesn't have a fancy Omar for Heisman Web site that they aren't selling him like crazy to sportswriters.

I think the usual stunts -- such as the Byron Leftwich bobblehead that sportswriters got a couple years ago -- probably go further than a Web site.

National respect. A preseason ranking. That's the sign of a "program". Finally we've won enough games enough years in a row that the national publications are taking us seriously going into a season. That's huge.

Guess what comes with respect: EXPECTATIONS.

I'll lay it on the line right now, anything less than a MACC next year will be a major disappointment; no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

So if we lose a big game next year that costs this opportunity I don't want to hear for one second that I should be glad we won 9 games. This year expectations were low going in, but when you start seeing a top 20 ranking on a national website, I think its time to raise that expectation.

we should all start a campaign to get jacobs in the running for the heisman... any idears?

Absolutely. The only game that I would be OK with this team losing is at Boise. That is no easy place to play. Madison is no picnic either but I think we can beat them.

Let's not get too excited yet...he did add this little diddy to the article...

Someone else posted what Wisky and Boise State have to replace for next year and the Badgers are gonna be hurtin' on D. Boise will reload.
I am much more concerned about Boise than Wisky.

Top 25 preseason would be awesome for BG....

Same here, I watched the UofL/BSU game and they are definitely a good team. They have more athletes on D then I would have thought. UofL still scored a lot but they scored a lot against everyone including Miami.
And if what you say is true that Wisky loses a lot on their D, we should be licking our chops going in there.

Wisconsiin's loss of Erasmus James alone is a HUGE loss to that defense. He destroyed OTs, and was continuously in the QB's face. That just made the entire defense look a notch better than it was, and it was pretty good already. Losing a player like that can be tough to replace. He is a likely top 10 pick, and probably the best DE in the draft.

Boise should be ranked a lot higher, but the parody in college football is catching up as next year could be another loaded year . . . Boise is the real deal

Knowing the fans and team in Camp Randall I'm not sure I would like to be ranked going in. That could turn into a hornets nest. I like the idea of quietly coming into town, unsuspecting, then lowering the boom and taking a victory. How about we get a win then worry about the rankings

You are EXACTLY correct! I feel the same way. BG must produce a MAC title in 2005....regardless of division. We have too much talent returning not to win it all. And I am tired of seeing UT wins titles and not BG. Rocketfootball on the MAC boards lets me know that UT has won 3 MAC titles in the last 10 years...BG? ZERO> That must change.

I will be EXTREMELY disappointed if we do not win the MAC in '05. No excuses.

The expectations should be higher. Sounds like our program is arriving.

I read where Wisky loses their whole starting front 4 and 2 or 3 in the secondary.

Of course we need to replace 3 O linemen as well.
