CFN's preview is up

Sometimes CFN does a pretty good preview. Sometimes they don't even try. This is unfortunately the latter.

In this preview, BG is in an alternative world where James Knapke is the star QB, Matt Johnson is not in the picture, and Nick Johnson is the star of the secondary. The preview also spends an inordinate amount of time suggesting Babers will take off after this year for a big program.
I remember when CFN did one preview a day and did a rather comprehensive preview of the the entire team unit by unit. The quality was often shaky but it was something to look forward to every day, to check out CFN and see if today was Bowling Green's day. Their quality has fallen through the floor since.

You're right. Pretty weak write up compared to what they use to do.

It's becoming very common now for these sites to pen a season preview sometime in January or February and simply publish it without any revision in the summer. The reality is, CFN and other publications simply aren't going to dedicate time to mid-major programs like they used to. I think Athlon and Phil Steele are probably the only two reputable sources of information regarding season previews as they actually take the time to evaluate every team.

I read CFN.com but don't put much stock in it. Phil Steele is the guy I follow. He knows his stuff about EVERY team and doesn't short change the mid majors. His preview bible will hit the stores in about 3 weeks.

Add Bill Connelly's SB Nation preview to the list. His previews are great. As technical as Phil Steele's and not so dry. Connelly's previews are actually funny to read sometimes.

Phil Steele picked BG to finished tied for 1st in the MAC East with Akron, but that prediction was made with Nick Johnson (gone), Bryan Thomas (probably gone) and Robbie Rhodes (could be gone). FWIW, he picked Toledo to win the MAC West and to win the MAC Championship.
