The freaklings and I are headed to Nashville for the BG game...then heading to Blacksburg for Va Tech / osu Labor Day night. In addition to being a BG fan of course, Jake has been a Hokie fan for some time and since we'll be in the area, why not? Get tix from a scalper the day of the game and take in the atmosphere at Lane Stadium.

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!

... and it just gets better. OSU will be without 4 starters for that game, including Bosa and 3 WR. That game just got more balanced.

I thought Tech had a good chance before this news. Hokies are #16 in the pre season and Phil Steele has them as a darkhorse contender for the playoffs. They had more injuries than we did last year and this could be Bud Foster's best D ever. osu fans on ESPN were saying the bucks were gonna win 63-10, 55-10, 48-14...ect. Please.

It could be a very happy weekend! :-D

Lane Stadium is a very good college football atmosphere, especially at night. Toss in the defending National Champion and the place will be going crazy - at least early on. Wear your BG orange and you'll blend right in. I love how the Hokies come out to Enter Sandman as it really gets the place rocking. Although when they do their "key play" and jingle their car keys, that gets kinda old quick. Take a walk over to the Drill Field to see the memorial from the shootings there several years ago. I still can't believe that happened, so damn sad. If Mrs. Freak is going (or if the kids like the outdoors) and you need to throw something in for them too, take them up to Mountain Lake. It's just outside of Blacksburg in Pembroke (http://www.mtnlakelodge.com/" target="_blank). It's best known for where they filmed the movie Dirty Dancing. Cool place to stay if you're looking for scenic lodging close to Blacksburg but in a park-like setting (would be similar to if you stayed at Hocking Hills when going to OU). There's hiking trails, a pool, you can stay in the main hotel or in some of the different cabins. The ride up the mountain alone is cool, although the lake by the hotel has since dried up.

Sounds like a great weekend trip planned Mike! I'm still deciding on whether or not I can make the trip to Nashville myself, seems a bit steep with hotel prices in and around Nashville but it might be able to be worked out.

We'll see you that Saturday Freak. I'll coordinate with you on a tailgate spot as it gets closer.

Freak,
Don't know how much time you'll have in Nashville, but if you want some good Barbecue, go to "Peg Leg Porker".

Mike,
Joyce and I are going on the BG Falcon Club bus.....pricey, but does include a nite at Gr. Old Opry, stay 2 nites at Opreyland Hotel, tix to game, round trip via bus etc.
Thought about driving it, but we MAY also be doing the Md. game since my brother lives about 30 min. away from U. Md and we can stay with him...obviously, we'd drive that one....so we'll see.

Only thing about the FC trip is that we haven't heard anything from them for quite some time, so I'll have to call ticket office to find out what the deal is.

The jingling of the car keys means "game over, drive home safely" or "warm up the bus" in BG, so seeing it used for another purpose by VT fans was a little strange at first. It makes sense, but I can see where done repetitively that it gets old.

Definitely like our use of keys better because when we do it, it means a WIN.

I worked at UVa for a decade and the Hokies won all but one of the meetings while I was there. I heard those damn keys jingling and jingling way, way too much.

We will decide in the next few days if we are making the trip to Nashville. The kids hockey programs start earlier each season, so we are waiting to find out if they have anything over Labor Day weekend.

I just hope we can find tix outside the stadium at a reasonable price. If not, we are gonna hang in the tailgate lots and watch it there. Got the room reserved in Wytheville since everything is sold out within a 30 mile radius of Blacksburg. Plus, it is close to I 77 and we can head straight home the next day.

It is going to be a madhouse...and coming off a BG victory over TN will just make the weekend better.
