MAC Pick 'Em Week 1

We're officially two weeks from kicking off the 2015 college football season which means it's time to bring back the MAC Pick 'Em weekly challenge!

Many of the rules have stayed the same for this year, but here's a recap for any newcomers:

Picks are done similar to ESPN's Bowl Mania, you assign a confidence number to your selection and earn that amount of points for correct picks. Incorrect picks simply earn you 0 points for that game.

Picks are public and are posted within the weekly thread. Picks must be entered by the time the first MAC game kicks off that week. For Week 1, picks must be entered in by 7:00pm EDT on Thursday, September 3rd. Your posts are date and time stamped for me to know when your picks came in.

Participation weekly is not mandatory but strongly encouraged if you want to compete for the title. I will post standings the following Monday along with the next week's games.

I'm still undecided on prizes, I am accepting any type of monetary donations should people want to build up a pot to be split. If not, I may offer up prizes at reduced values. Last year the top three performers received Amazon gift cards.

JP, I filled out my picks, then checked to see that our picks are remarkably similar. Great minds think alike?

12. Oklahoma over Akron. Akron will be fine this year so don't let one game make up your mind.
11. Oklahoma State over Central Michigan. A raucous crowd will be on hand and I expect CMU to play well but this one isn't happening.
10. Ball State over VMI. No FCS upsets this year.
9. UT over Stony Brook. No FCS upsets this year.
8. MU over Presbyterian. No FCS upsets this year.
7. Buffalo over Albany. I'm excited to see the new coaching staff at UB.
6. Illinois over Kent State. Kent may play well on defense. If Illinois has problems, they're in for a rough year.
5. Northern Illinois over UNLV. NIU will be just fine even with good seniors graduating.
4. Michigan State over Western Michigan. WMU is certainly capable of winning this game. They would need a perfect game for this one to happen and the odds aren't good. But it can happen.
3. Old Dominion over Eastern Michigan. EMU will be improved but ODU is in better shape.
2. Ohio over Idaho. Might be a tighter game than projected.
1. Bowling Green over Tennessee. Why not? I believe our offense could be jaw dropping this year. If our defense plays well enough and we can keep pace, this one can happen.

I just wonder if our D will allow the offense to get on the field enough. If we cant stop anyone then it wont matter how good the offense is. This D has significantly less talent than last yrs awful Defense.
