2 more Vols out against BG

Not sure if this was mentioned but I saw on the ticker on Fox Sports that Tennessee will be without its starting DB due to a neck injury and it's wide receiver, violated team rules, for the BG game. Not sure what their talent level is but I would assume it's somewhat significant or it wouldn't be mentioned.

sorry man. Dont really mean it to be negative. Very pumped about the offense and the MAC schedule but the defense scares me to death i gotta admit. Theres no denying its less talented than last yr with all the losses.

I disagree, there's talent there, it all depends upon how much confidence they can get before the season starts in learning a new scheme. Brian Ward is a respected coach and he'll have them ready to play, it's all a matter of executing. I certainly feel much better about having him coaching the D than I am Kim McCloud. I'm still in wait and see mode on the offense considering all the hype there was last year which devolved into running the same 5-6 plays and becoming extremely predictable.

Falconkid must be the son of former poster Falconboy. Even though he doesn't mean it, he is always negative.

Pearson had 38 catches and 5 TD's last year, BTW.

I miss the daily post from Falconboy telling us we need more 300 pound D linemen.

Losing a WR may not be big for them, but, I wouldn't want to face BG missing any DBs.

from what im reading right here its Pig Howard that is out, not Pearson. The rest are playing and they return about everybody plus a RB from Alabama. Should be interesting/fun....

I can see your point and I share your concern. We lost a lot on defense and of those losses, four of those guys (Martin, Lynch, Montgomery and Jude A-B) are currently on NFL rosters right now. On top of that, we also lost a pair of All-MAC starters who were dismissed in the offseason in Thomas and Johnson. Plus we also lost starters Walker and Ward and a backup in Watson. All of those guys were talented and the worrisome part is, even WITH them last year, we still had a poor defense. So yeah, to say I'm also concerned about the defense too would be an understatement. If we want to be a good team this year the defense must.....MUST.....be better. I wonder how - even with a new DC and scheme - how can we improve?? I feel confident about the offense and special teams, but the defense is going to decide if we're going to be a good team or not. The onus is on them. If they want to shut up the doubters, the ball's about to be in their court in a week.

Hi guys. It appears that some of you are picking up misinformation or incomplete information about the most recent batch of Tennessee football players who are out or injured. Von Pearson is not one of them to the best of my knowledge. Here is the latest news story on it from the Knoxville News-Sentinel, which is the local metropolitan newspaper that keeps the closest watch on the Tennessee football team:
http://www.knoxnews.com/govolsxtra/foot ... oplay=true" target="_blank
Alton "Pig" Howard, the guy suspended for the BGSU game, is considered to be the best and most dangerous wide receiver on the team. Jason Croom was a greatly improved wide receiver that was expected to have a breakout year, but it appears the only thing he is going to break out of is the operating room at a local hospital. LaDarrell McNeil is our starting strong safety---another great player down. Vincent Perry is a freshman wide receiver that was having an excellent practice and showing flashes of brilliance. Like I said guys, practice them to death and ensure that an amputee's convention shows up to play the game---not good---really bad news here in Knoxville.
