Toledo's game last night was delayed several times before being suspended and ultimately ruled a no-contest. I was wondering if BG experienced the same weather? I'm sure there was a very good chance had we opened with South Carolina State as originally scheduled that it would have been last night also.

There was a home soccer game last night that started at 7 and ended without a single drop of rain. I didn't even know it was raining in Toledo until their game was in the second quarter, let alone thunder and lightning.

Heavy lightening when I walked home at 9:30 from Downtown, no rain on the roads until I made it to Levis Commons driving north on 25 today. BG stayed dry

Not a drop of rain at my parents house on the golf course. Lightening from 9:30 to 1:00 but no rain. Since the UT game was declared a no contest and the stats didn't count and the record is 0-0 could UT possibly pick up another game against a FCS school or Div 2 school during its bye week. Is it allowed to pick up a game during mid season. Also, if not another game scheduled would the fans receive a refund since the game didn't exist.

It's not the rain... it's the lightning. If there's lightning in the area, they're supposed to pull the teams and empty the stands until they don't see any lightning for a period of time. We had that Buffalo game in... was it 2006...2007 maybe... where they delayed the game for looooong stretches solely because of lightning.

Upon further review... it seems that it's the lightning and thunder that matter.

There is precedent. After 9/11, just about all the games were cancelled for the next weekend. Bowling Green ended up scheduling Northwestern to replace our game at South Carolina. (And that turned out very well for us. Thank you, Cole Magner.)

An argument against this, I guess, would be that Toledo would be getting, in effect, additional practice, since they actually went and played half the game.

I tend to doubt Toledo will try to pick up another game. Flying a team in would be expensive -- which is probably why nobody is talking about flying Stony Brook back to Toledo to finish the second half.

Hurricanes sometimes cancel games in the South. Does anyone know how these situations are usually handled?

Hurricanes usually cancel games before they start... as did 9/11. I don't know of anyone having a game wiped at the half and then playing another game against a different team. But....I haven't researched the topic at all.
