Robbie Rhodes
No one has mentioned this , but does anyone know why Robbie Rhodes didn't play Sat.?
At least I didn't see him on the field, tho in uniform. After a 100 + yd game last week, thought for sure he'd be a factor on Sat.

Re: Robbie Rhodes
I saw him line up for maybe one or two plays...he may be nursing an injury since he wasn't returning kicks either.

Re: Robbie Rhodes
The participation chart (take it for what it's worth) shows he played and the overall stats showed he played three games.
GO BG!!!
Re: Robbie Rhodes
I believe he may still be nursing some shoulder issues.

Returned every kick and was targeted several time on offense.zete wrote:Did he play at all?

Re: Robbie Rhodes
He's a hazard on kick returns. How many times did he come up short of the 20 and ran into the coverage team instead of into an open lane? At receiver, it seemed like he and MJ were rarely on the same page...MJ is a senior and has been playing very well so I can only assume Rhodes is running the wrong routes and/or reading the wrong keys.

This.
I guess they are using Rhodes instead of Stephens as a returner because we are so thin at DB and deep at WR. Rhodes always hesitates a little instead of committing to a path at full speed on kick returns. You have to use speed to get through the narrow lanes on the first wave of tacklers.

Re: Robbie Rhodes
Yeah, it appears that Rhodes may be having trouble grasping the offense. The fact he's not starting tells me the coaches either aren't happy with his progression or he simply doesn't know quite what he's supposed to do.footballguy51 wrote:He's a hazard on kick returns. From what I've been told, we won't be seeing Robbie much the rest of the season.

Re: Robbie Rhodes
Jpfalcon09, can you elaborate on that statement. I felt like in the Maryland game we caught a glimpse of his abilities. At Purdue he did look lost at times. I seem to recall a couple of passes where it looked as if he just didn't run the route correctly, MJ outhit on the money and Rhides was no where to be found. However I can't believe this guy forgot how to catch a football. The times I've seen him in scrimmages he has the yards after catch potential. I understand rating recruits is not a science but the guy was 4 stars. So what gives here?

Re: Robbie Rhodes
I was told at the Buffalo game from anonymous sources (don't want to get specific) that Robbie has had a terrible attitude this season regarding him believing he's better than other receivers on the team. There's also been a lot of friction between he and Matty J about him not learning the plays and them being not on the same page, again having to do with his poor attitude and inability to grasp the offense.bg1984 wrote:Jpfalcon09, can you elaborate on that statement. In his defense, he has been hobbled by some nagging injuries this season, but I'll be extremely shocked if he plays again this season. Him not even seeing the field when the second team got in against UMass should tell you the story.

Re: Robbie Rhodes
If he was really better than these guys, he'd still be at Baylor. Just my opinion.

Re: Robbie Rhodes
That's certainly a debatable statement, a few Baylor fans I've talked to have suggested he was removed from the team because of his attitude and the drug stuff was simply the easy way to remove him from the team.kdog27 wrote:If he was really better than these guys, he'd still be at Baylor. I hope he plays considering he's been so highly touted but I'm beginning to believe his impact while at BGSU will be a little better than negligible.
