Purdue predictions

Post by jpfalcon09 »

BG 38
Purdue 41

This game has worried me more and more this week as we approach Saturday. Purdue got smacked last week by a Va Tech offense featuring it's backup QB. The Boilermakers switching QBs this week may also provide enough of a shot in the arm to put together an offensive performance better than what they've shown so far this year. A possible BG hangover from a tough Memphis loss means they get out of the gate slowly and have to play catch-up. I hope I'm wrong!

I'm sharing much of the same feelings as you are. On paper, before the start of the season, I felt this may be our best shot at a non-conference win. I have picked against us each of our first three games and unfortunately, I was right twice. I really want to pick BG in this game, but after three games and seeing the disaster our special teams unit is, the penalties piling up more than any team in the country, seeing our defense struggle to get off the field much of the way so far, and even seeing our offense completely shut down in crunch time (something I wasn't sure could be done by any team on our schedule), I have my concerns. I do expect Purdue to play a very good game. I saw them vs Marshall in a game they controlled most of the way, and you know BG has their attention. The QB change could spark them, and it's going to throw a new wrinkle at our defense that won't be seen on tape yet. One thing I do expect is a very close game. And those are the exact kind of games where special teams often make the difference. I feel they cost us the loss vs Memphis last week and it won't surprise me to see Tate with a possible shot to win or lose this game vs Purdue at the end. I'm also worried about a hangover as well, and if we lose this game, I'm going to be extremely concerned about the mindset and confidence of this team (however, a win could springboard BG into the MAC). As you said, I hope I'm wrong.

Lots of points, penalties and special team blunders. Hopefully we score more.

Was at the 2003 game. Still my favorite football game I have attended.

No hangover as the Falcons come out swinging and end this one by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

BG 52, Purdue 28...and I don't know if Purdue will score 28 with a new QB running a subpar offense. Our D will play well.

I'm curious....why pick your team to lose and then say "I hope I'm wrong"? That is a CYA prediction. I have full faith in this team. The penalties MUST be reduced and the ST play MUST play better. No question those two areas are hurting us. But I like our chance in any game against any team on the schedule. I've watched Purdue...this is Hazell's last year. This is a game we need to go in on a business trip and shove it down their throat.

It's not a CYA. I absolutely hope BG wins every time they step on the field, but there are a lot of times where any number of factors make me think they will most likely lose. I still root for them to win those games, even if I picked them to lose. Sometimes the heart and the head are not in lock step.

For the record, I picked us to win this week :supz:

New Purdue QB is more mobile...but it doesn't sound like he offers much in the way of an arm. If that's the case, we'll let him run around a bit between the 20's and then shut them down.

Exactly. When I make a prediction it's what I "think" will happen, but that doesn't mean it's "going" to happen. Big difference between the two. It's like buy a lottery ticket, you go in knowing you're very likely to lose, but you're happy as hell if the outcome is different than what you thought.

Fair enough...I expect BG to win every game. That's why these guys play.

I expect us to roll this week...

Bowling Green 45, Purdue 27. In advance, I will apologize for the ineffective product Purdue will put on the field tomorrow. I hope those who will be attending the game tomorrow have a nice time.
