Injury Report

Post by BGSU33 »

Anyone have an update or info on the injuries to Dietz and Hardy? Dietz looked like a right leg/knee injury and Hardy looked like a right arm/shoulder injury. Really hope neither is serious. I didn't notice any other injuries of note. It also appears Rhodes did not play.

I noticed Milton and Coby on the kick return team so they appear to be healthy again. Also saw Brian Sanders, Scot Miller and Derek Phouthavong for the first time this year.

I saw Dietz and Beggan leave the game at different times to get checked out, don't really know the extent of their injuries. I met Logan's family before the game and they are a great group of people.

I think Hardy was banged up a little and was eventually replaced by Hale. Obviously won't know much about his status until Wednesday or Thursday.

Rhodes appeared to be nursing an injury as well, he was riding the stationary bike most of the game and then came off the sidelines at the end of the game favoring his left shoulder. I'm not sure what that was about since I don't believe he saw any snaps. It also appeared he was lobbying to get in the game as I saw him trying to convince either a position coach or one of the OCs to get in the game.

Babers said today in the presser that we're really banged up and that we need to get healthy. He didn't name names but made it clear that we're ailing. He went on to say if we can get healthy he feels we have a pretty good team.

I can tell you right now the team is extremely thin at CB...Ronnie Moore was playing there multiple times on 3rd downs against UB. I believe I did see Mack out there but he didn't play consistently.

I'm wondering if we will see Hunter ever again? I read where he is out indefinitely but man could we use him back. I'm guessing it was a concussion that he suffered on that play vs Maryland but who knows.

INJURY REPORT FOR UMASS: The Falcons will enter Saturday’s contest without senior cornerback Darrell Hunter. Hunter, who was injured in the Maryland game, still has not returned to the practice field and remains out for Saturday. Two starting offensive linemen, Alex Huettel and Logan Dietz, also did not practice Wednesday, and their status for Saturday remains uncertain.

I am hoping some young players at CB step up so we are not relying upon Ronnie Moore playing both ways. We may have a shootout on our hands this week so we'll need Moore down the stretch.
Mack has played well at CB but he too is dealing with some injury problems and we need depth in the secondary. If it means some true freshmen get some time in, so be it. We're about to go up against a great passing offense so we will need fresh legs all the time in the secondary.

In HS Ronnie Moore won the Orlando TD club "Iron Man" award for playing both ways...he's used to it.

According to Wagner, Hunter is still out indefinitely...Dietz and Huettel are what I would say questionable as well.

Don't like the sound of Huettle and Dietz being questionable.

I saw how Dietz get hurt. It's his right leg/knee. It looked like a knee to me. On one of the times Johnson was sacked, he was tackled into the leg of Dietz as he was blocking and his knee buckled and he fell to the ground. He limped off the field one play later and never returned. I believe Huettel has been battling an injury for weeks now, I think it's an ankle. And does anyone know exactly what is wrong with Hunter? I guessing a concussion based on what I saw when he was injured.

True...but if both cannot go, that is a BiG loss on the O line.

Agreed, Huettel is our best OL by far and those two are crucial parts to the OL. And there is also big a reason Hunter was starting in front of Mack. Hunter is our lockdown CB and Mack was a backup. Hunter has only played one full game for us this season and we are desperate at the CB spot right now. We've had Moore playing spots at it, Gourdine was moved over from S but is clearly playing out of position at CB right now. This is where the dismissals of Johnson and Watson hurt right now, and it didn't help that a guy like Beery transferred because PT is clearly available now. It's also sort of strange that two years ago when we lost Hunter for the season, just days before his injury, DeVon McKoy transferred and had he stayed, McKoy likely would have been our other starter at CB. Fast forward to two years later to present date and we might be looking at Hunter being lost for the year yet again, and Johnson, Watson and Beery are all gone.
