Anyone see the Wake Forest (Dave Clawson team) against Boston College highlights fron Saturday.

Well there were not many. Wake Forest won the game 3-0. Wake Forest only had 5 first downs the entire game, one due to a penalty. They had barely over 100 yards for the entire game AND STILL WON.

Clawson taking that job is still a head scratcher.

I have 2.2 million reasons why...

He's a bright, methodical, highly organized coach who has a history of success in environments where finding athletes that can cut it academically is the challenge. Wake Forest is a great opportunity for him.

If he can win there, I imagine he'd be on the short list in Ann Arbor when Harbaugh leaves for his return to the NFL.

My point being, FIVE first downs for an entire game. We had that alone on the 1st drive of the game. How would our fans react to a 3-0 win and barely over 100 yards of offense

I'd take a 3-0 win over Boston College.

Ask Northern Illinois if they would've taken a 3-0 win over Boston College.

I'd take a 3-0 win over Toledo.

Sure would be awesome to shut out an opponent like that too, especially on their home field. In college football, you can't ever shut out a team and lose, but you can score 70 and not win.

BC has a tremendous defense. Wake Forest has a tremendous defense. Ugly offensive game but beautiful defensive execution.
Give Clawson some time. He'll get the program on track. He's already mastered one side of the ball, now he needs to find some players to develop an efficient clock-control offense.
And damn straight about Clawson to Michigan. I could see it happening soon, up there with Urban Meyer's eventual move to Notre Dame. I'd love to see Harbaugh make M his permanent home but I can't help but think his heart long-term is in the NFL. If that happens, Clawson looks very Michigan-like.

The ceiling is still pretty low at Wake. Jim Caldwell was absolutely terrible there and still coached for 7 years, going 26-63. Jim Grobe coached for 12 seasons and went 77-82, but had a 23-38 record from 2007-13. I honestly don't really see Clawson moving on from Wake simply because previous coaches and results there have been so middling.

All things considered, Grobe did a solid job at WF. Just such a tough place to win...and consistently.

I think we can all agree that Dave Clawson's move to Wake Forest hasn't been nearly as bad/dumb as Darrell Hazell's move to Purdue. His head coaching career is likely over when Purdue fires him after this season (if he even makes it to the end of the season)

You have to make these moves while the opportunity is there. Hazell cashed in on one great season at Kent. I doubt that success would have continued and we would have been passed over for other power five jobs. He should give part of his paycheck to Dri Archer
