Jan 14 will feature major visits from several top prep stars including nationally rated LB Jacque Jackson of River Ridge, LA (per Rivals) as well as this recently added DB from Miami, Florida . . . Antonio Smith 5-10/170/4.5 seem to be the consistent numbers . . . He will also visit Minnesota and Rutgers with his other offer coming from the Gophers. Here's to hoping that WR Darrin Taylor makes the trip from River Ridge with Jacque Jackson.
Antonio Smith:

Chicago WR Orlando Moore (***) will be in Toledo on the same day . . .
Marietta, GA DB Chris Hobbs (**) will be in Muncie

Per Rivals, Jackson is close to committing to BG.

Option : don't know where you got this info. but it got me searching a bit, primarily for Darrin Taylor...turned up on HS website ... 6'4', 205 WR...big wideout, similar to what we ideally would like as an alternative to smaller WR's.... Most interesting is that Danny Wimprine was one of their alums. For those of you who didn't go to, watch, or listen to our bowl game, this is the Memphis' starting QB. 8)

61,
I splurged a few weeks back for the 7 day "free" trial on Rivals. Darrin Taylor was one of the recruits that had drawn interest from BG. Like Jackson, Taylor also has at least limited interest from UCLA, Arkansas and Kentucky. I believe only UCLA has offered Jackson, not sure about Taylor, I guess I would need another 7 day trial to figure it all out. Interesting enough, there was a receiver from Miami that was projected as a DB as well that was listed.
I'll see what else I can dig up.

Add OHSAA Division 1 Defensive Player of the Year Terrill Byrd from State Champion Cincinnati Colerain to the list of big-time visits that Coach Brandon and staff have lined up for Jan 14.
Byrd is a bit undersized at 5-10, but at 282 he runs an exceptional 4.7 . . . Could be a solid DT or DE in our system.
Hopefully he brings Colerain coach Kerry Coombs and his son star DB Brayden Coombs with him.
This is turning out to be quite the weekend for Falcon visits.

Yes, these could be some very nice pickups for the Falcons. Here's hoping they like and choose BG!

Byrd is the strongest player to ever pass through Colerain. He benches (I think ) over 400 lbs already. I'd be interested in hearing what he squats. At 5'-10", he have a field day staying low and getting up into the pads of OLinemen. If he has the leg drive to match his upper body power, he could be really disruptive.
He looked to be leaning towards Toledo from what I gathered off of their fan sites, but he visted Bancroft Junior High in December. If he was at all sold on them, would he be coming here?

Flipper,
I read the article and UC and UT have both offered and seem to be his top two choices, but Byrd admitted that he's still looking and that's why he's coming up here and according to him "it's down to those three."

Add Sirod Williams from Garfield Hts. to the list of outstanding defensive players coming in for the weekend of Jan 14. Williams is listed on Rivals as a Weakside Defensive End that is 6-0/226 and runs in the 4.5 range as well.
It seems he is recovering from an injury as well, but this is good news as far as visits go.
A loaded defensive weekend featuring great defensive prospects:
-Terrill Byrd, DT State Champion Cincinnati Colerain
-Antonio Smith, DB Miami Central, Miami, FL
-Jacque Jackson, OLB River Ridge, LA
-Sirod Williams, DE Garfield Hts.

I assume they are coming to the basketball game? Let's hope we're rocking.

The basketball game might be a part of the visit, but I'm sure all of the facilities will be . . . I just hope they discuss the SAC and show the pictures of it . . .

There is a kid from Divison II state champion Columbus Brookhaven who is a 6'0 300 pound defensive tackle who was selected All City and, despite
his size is considered extemely quick and very powerful. I apologize because I don't know his name. If you ever saw Brookhaven play you saw how much team speed they had. I know his weight for his height might indicate a fat, sluggish type of player but if he can maintain his quickness he could be a real find. I wonder if he is being recruited by Divison I schools and if BG has any interest.

Brookhaven was a really special team. I don't think a Columbus public school has ever won the state title. What those kids did will be talked about for decades.
