Matt J. for Heisman
Yeah, I know he plays for a "non" power team, but has there been any mention of Matty J. for a Hiesman candidate. He is putting up silly statistics against good competition for six weeks now. The yards and touchdowns are video game numbers... Why has there been no push for at least a look at a trip to New York...

It's been all over Twitter.

I don't think anybody not named Leonard Fournette is really a Heisman candidate anymore this year.
I think Johnson, if he continues his stellar play, should garner consideration to make it to the ceremony. In the end though I think having 2 losses pretty much takes him out of consideration for that. Hope that's not the case, he deserves to be talked about as he is having a historic season up to this point, but I don't think he'll get much pub. MAYBE if we win out, beating an undefeated UT, he will get some play, but it's as much about this team winning as it is his accomplishments at this point.

A graphic and a Twitter hashtag are fine but do not constitute a full-fledged campaign. Beating Toledo and running the table the rest of the way should really intensity things just on their own, but a more organized effort targeting voters would help the cause as well.
Any Heisman voter who lets conference affiliation dictate their vote hasn't been paying attention to college football.

Didn't Texas Tech have a guy throw for almost 6,000 yards and not get an invite?
That said....if BG keeps putting up 50+ points, runs the table to the end of the year and Johnson keeps throwing as many TD as incompletions...he'd be hard to ignore. It will help that his final 4 games will all be nationally televised with the UT game being perhaps the most hyped and watched BG / UT game, ever.

What's a full fledged campaign entail? T-shirts? keychains? Bobbleheads? guest appearance on the new Fox hit "The Grinder"?mscarn wrote:A graphic and a Twitter hashtag are fine but do not constitute a full-fledged campaign. I was thinking more along the lines of whatever NIU did for Lynch but those suggestions work just fine. In terms of guest spots on television, "The Big Bang Theory" might have more of a reach. Johnson's episode can be called "The No Bangs Theory" given his distinctive trademark look.Flipper wrote:What's a full fledged campaign entail? T-shirts? keychains? Sadly I don't think MJ will be getting an invite to New York. Graham Harrell didn't when he shattered the NCAA passing record at Texas Tech. He should however be in the running for the Manning or O'Brien awards.

BBT could work...we wnt to keep him away from any project involving kenny Rogers. we don't need any Gambler references. Keep him far from the Kardashians...those demonic sirens will turn him into a dope fiend or a woman

Re: Matt J. for Heisman
They are pushing for Lynch to be at the Heisman ceremony right now in the Memphis-Tulsa game. Can't really argue with that. Matty J out performed him for 2 and a half quarters but Lynch won the war.

If any non power five qb gets an invite it will be lynch. They're undefeated and he has played himself into first round draft talk.kdog27 wrote:They are pushing for Lynch to be at the Heisman ceremony right now in the Memphis-Tulsa game.
