That was a waste of $15.
The defense didn't play well but didn't play nearly as bad as the score would indicate. The offense doesn't have the ability to stay on the field so they're out there all the time. BG did a good job of targeting individuals that struggle in coverage in our secondary. Seemed like we were getting them to third down all day but couldn't get them off the field.
The offense is just an absolute joke. I've seen comments on here that it isn't the QB's fault but the fact that play makers don't exist around him. Today Bollas missed a ton of open receivers. It's always tough to know from watching games on TV but being there in person, he was making the wrong read over and over agian. PJ Simmons was doing a really nice job of getting open early but wasn't getting the looks. He holds on to it way too long and doesn't seem to have any pocket presence. Way too often we roll him out and he ends up throwing it away a step from the sideline. At this point I just hope we see progression out of him to give us some hope for the offense next year. If not I sure hope we're heavily recruiting JUCO QBs.
One other comment, would someone please explain to our coaching staff that Antwan Dixon is only 5'8" and 173 lbs?!?! Throwing him jump balls is idiotic and throwing swing passes to his side where he is expected to make a key block isn't any smarter.
I found it ironic that NFL.com named Jordan Italiano the smartest man in college football because he plays on one of the dumbest teams in college football.
Now for one positive that came out of this game. Sure, we lost by 48 points to BG... but Akron lost by 49 to them last week.
