That TSUN Rushing Attack though.

We touched on this in another thread BUT. That TSUN running game looked good tonight. Swanson and Hunt both over 100 yards. Swanson had a 20+yd TD run called back on a holding call as well.
Point here being BG needs that rush defense to continue improving. Ely is VERY human. Even with a humming running game tonight against NIU he struggled, so he is certainly beatable. Especially if we can slow down that running game and make TSUN one dimensional.
I want Valdez and Colvin to just EAT these guys up on November 17th.

If BG's run defense plays like it has so far tonight, TTUN may go for more than 300 yards just on the ground. They really need to tighten things up.

Yeah, the D effort was not very good tonight other than holding Ohio to 24 pts. We gave up way too many yards.

OU had them confused early on...once they adjusted, they shut them down. From mid 2nd qtr to that 3rd qtr FG OU got nothing and gave up a pick six. UT doesn't have a QB that's mobile like Vick and Sprauge were. They either hand the ball off or get the ball out quickly on a short throw...Ely isn't an accurate passer and he isn't going to run around back there and create stuff with his feet. Our defense reacts to the ball really well. So I think we'll be in good shape against Toledo.
Zach Terrell is an accurate passer and he has some talented WR's to work with and that RB Franklin is a load. WMU concerns me more than UT

All we need to do is score one more an our opponents. Anyone worried about us scoring? Yeah...didn't think so.
The only thing that concerns me is our place kicker and the silly penalties.

Ohio really abused us on the option game, BG had a difficult time getting enough bodies to the edges in the first half and it looked like it caught the D off-guard. Adjustments were made in the 2nd half however, which effectively took that away, along with Vick leaving the game.

that is concerning. He is usually money. I think with Farinella out and Tate doing the kickoffs has affected his place kicking.

Yeah...but Toledo doesn't run any options, and can't because of Ely. Terrell and WMU don't run it either as far as I'm aware.
If you watch Toledo's run game...most of their success is after contact. Their backs are very hard to tackle and frequently do some type of spin. The key is tackling and driving and finishing tackles. Most teams try to tackle their backs with a big hit instead of proper technique. Hopefully our coaches see this on film and react accordingly.
