Alarming trend in the 6-game losing streak to UT

In 5 of the last 6 losses to UT, BG has quickly fallen behind by double figures and never recovered. Three of the last four years alone BG has fallen behind by three scores before scratching out its first points. Year after year UT comes out swinging and year after year BG gets knocked on its ass. Take a look at these starts to the last 6 games:
2015 Toledo takes 20-0 lead, wins 44-28
2014 Toledo takes 13-3 lead, wins 27-20
2013 Toledo takes 21-0 lead, wins 28-25
2012 Toledo takes 17-0 lead, wins 27-15
2011 BG led 7-0 at halftime, lost 28-21
2010 Toledo takes 19-0 lead, wins 33-14

You are absolutely correct! Either we come out so tight we let TSUN punch us in the face over and over again before we settle down into the game, or we have a huge little brother complex that we just bend over and take it. Either way, we need a coach that gets it and ends this streak.

Agree 33...I don't why the hell we start like that against them. I feel the ut coaches put more emphasis on this game than Babers or Clawson ever did. Beckman and Campbell know how much it means. This is unreal...

We're not OSU, we don't fire a coach solely because he has lost 2 straight to one team. How many straight has Campbell lost to NIU, and that result has kept them from championships. Look we can still get the bigger prize this year and that should be the focus. 12/4.

I'm sure John Cooper would love, love, love you to pieces.
Oh and by the way: Coop wasn't fired ONLY because he couldn't win against his rival; he lost almost all his bowl games, too, and his teams routinely faded in November, when other top football schools were peaking. The other final straw for Coop was that his last or next to last recruiting class ended up with something like half a dozen or more non-qualifiers academically.
And let's not forget...it's not that BG has lost "2 straight" -- they've now dropped half a dozen straight games to their rival.
It helps make things much clearer when you actually look at facts.

If we win the MAC I won't give two fucks about the UT game and I would cry "unjust" if anyone but Dino was named MACcoach of the year. You people need to get a grip and focus on what counts, a MAC title

I'll still be pissed about the UT game, because I still care more about beating them than anything, but I'll agree with the coach of the year thing.
AFAIC, we're still the best team in the conference and last night only proved that we can lose to one of the other competitors if we play our absolute worst game with an inch of Myle's pizza grease on our fingers.

AGREE. Some on this thread seem so hung up on the UT game that they'd rather have a 1-10 record just to beat them.

MAC title or not. Beating your rival matters.

I agree with both sides. I f*$^ing hate losing tsun...and 6 straight???? I totally despise them. SIX?!?!?!? Beating them matters...A LOT. Look at the last 20 years, we are 6-14 against them. This isn't just about the last 6 years as it goes further back than that. And with all the success they've had in the last 10-20 years, they still trail the all time series, 39-37-5.
The MAC title is very important. We could win our 12th title over all...2 more than tsun.
Both sides are correct. As I stated before, the ut coaches make this game more important than Clawson or Babers. ANY coach that gets the gig at BG has to clearly understand we expect them to beat tsun.
The ultimate goal, for me, is winning the conference title.

MAC Championship is way more important to me than beating Toledo. I'm just getting really sick of not being able to ever beat them and they seem to bring out the worst in us. But if we lose to Toledo and win a MAC championship like 2013, I'll take it every time.

100% agree the MAC title is our Super Bowl and the ultimate goal. But no one would disagree that at the very least splitting the difference between your most HATED rival, a school just 20 miles away and the biggest recruiting opponent is EXTREMELY important. ANY fan base would still be a bit sour if they lost six straight (and only won 6 out of the last 20 years) to their rival no matter how successful they may be overall. We at BG have great pride and high expectations with our football program, so if not completing both tasks every year should not completely satisfy us as fans.

Someone who considers themselves a Bowling Green fan and says they don't give an expletive about the Toledo game makes no sense to me. I guess too many players and coaches in recent years have shared that same opinion and that's why they keep kicking our assess, year after year.
Of course I want to win the conference championship --- every year. But if we do that without ever beating those blue and gold dildos, then it'll always leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. I want to beat them on the way to a title. Yeah, maybe that's being a little too greedy to want to have it all, but I love the burnt orange and seal brown and I'm always going to be greedy when it comes to wanting success for this program. Losing to Toledo is NEVER ok or insignificant to me. NOT EVER.

I think this idea that the players and coaches don't care about this game is a little off. There is apparently a problem with the way they focus and prepare for the game. It seems a bit misguided by their actions prior to the game. Babers has pointed out that this is an extremely important game to him and the team many times and has said how hard it was to face the seniors last year after that game.
I don't know if it is bad luck, preparation, focus or Toledo being in their heads. I suspect it is a little of all of it.
