Did the loss to Toledo jeopardize Babers, Help Campbell
Did the loss to Toledo jeopardize Babers, Help Campbell
Did last night's loss to Toledo jeopardize Babers chances of getting a P5 job. Will other institutions look negatively since Babers hasn't beaten our rivals in big game situations. On the other hand, has Campbell's chances of landing a P5 increase with 2 wins over his rival plus two P5 wins this year.

I said the same thing to some people sitting behind us last night. Also, who would you rather have? A 35 year-old coach with a better resume or the flashy 54 year-old coach?

Campbell should get a shot at a P5 job. No question. I think Babers will get some looks, too, because there are a lot of jobs opening up.
Frankly, I'd like to see Babers leave. I want a coach here who does more than put a flashy offense on the field. I want a complete team that can beat its rival AND win a MAC title. I see no reason such a coach can't be found.

Both guys are gone. At this point, I'm wondering how focused Babers is on finishing the season out here as I'm sure his agent has been fielding a ton of calls from interested schools. He couldn't even get the right number of games BG has lost in a row in this series in his post game press conference, he kept saying BG has lost seven instead of six. Made me shake my head a little.

Campbell hasn't done anything but beat us....he hasn't won the west, let alone the MAC. If Babers wins the MACC...and he'll have to beat UT or NIU to do it...he 'll have the better resume.

What has Campbell won? He has beaten us, but can't beat NIU with an injured QB at home. Both coaches will get looks and probably offers. Campbell has age and the fact he is a solid recruiter will make him more attractive then Babers, but Babers has had high level of success at Eastern Illinois before coming here.slashba33 wrote:I said the same thing to some people sitting behind us last night. Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach PE.

He's put a flashy offense on the field, he's won 3 games against P5 conference schools, he has us in the MAC title game for the 2nd straight year. Yes, I'm freaking PISSED we lost last night. And, yes I feel we need to win this conference championship. But to HOPE we lose the coach? Hysterical.
I hate BG fans so much right now. It's not enough to win, win by huge margins, and win a lot? Oh no, it has to be by playing boring ass 1952 style football or else it's not right?
Pfft...If Dino's squad wins the championship game this still will be the best season we've had since '03, EASILY trumping anything everybody's love affair Clawson did. Who, oh by the way, couldn't beat UT either. If this group finds a way to win the conference title game he'll leave here as the most accomplished by far between Urban, Clawson, and Brandon.
It doesn't matter, as you'll get your wish. Dino will be getting a much higher paying, higher profile job than BG this year. It's conceivable Briles gets NFL offers and I could see Dino either following him as OC or succeeding him at Baylor. If not there are probably a half dozen schools that would kill to have the best offense in the country. Last night's result did nothing to change the fact that he's going to be VERY high on the list of going from G5 to P5 schools. I hope like hell I'm wrong. I hope we do get to keep Dino. He's the best coach we've had since Urban, and I'm still amazed people are trying to run him off.

I'm taking the Babers hate with a grain of salt. People are frustrated and using their rage to vent about anything and everything.hammb wrote:This is hysterical.Falconwriter wrote:Campbell should get a shot at a P5 job. No question. I'm disappointed the players didn't execute last night and I don't blame the coaches for three fumbles and two interceptions. However, if they do play Toledo again in the MACC, I hope the coaches learn from what they saw last night and make some changes.
Everyone will feel better here if Toledo doesn't end up going to Detroit.
