HAHA...what a choke job today. Campbell will leave for another gig knowing the only way he ever made it to Detroit was with BG<

At Toledo, coaches come and coaches go.

But there is one constant: It has been 4,015 days since the Rockets last played for a MAC championship.

Matt Campbell is now persona non grata at UT. The vitriol being spewed by the same people that hailed him a week ago is amusing. What a difference a week makes...

I'm sure there will be similar sentiments from some here when Babers bolts. Spurned lover syndrome.

Iowa State is puzzling. Maybe Campbell wants a big job but without the big pressure. If he could win 6-8 games consistently they'd name the town after him.

What's puzzling about taking a job that gives you a 1.5 million dollar raise?

Mizzou was interested so I bet other big programs that are better set to succeed would also be interested. This or next year.

The Mizzou thing never seemed to have legs. And people seem to think his agent floated it for leverage.
Again. A 1 million + pay raise. Ask Pete Lembo abut hanging around an extra year. Probably cost him 10+ million dollars.
MAC coaches don't jump from a MAC school to a huge name. You get the lower rung P5 or AAC job and then vault your way into the mega gig.

Campbell gets a six-year deal and his first year is worth $2 million. He's set for the rest of his life even if his time in Ames doesn't work out, and that's why coaches leave.

They all take these MAC jobs to get out fast. They work 14 hours a day knowing it could lead to Lotto type money.
