Georgia Southern's Willie Fritz has reached an agreement to become Tulane's next football coach, a person briefed on the decision said Friday.
Saw this on Tulane's website.

Coach Fritz has indeed accepted the head football coaching position at Tulane..
Happy for him.
No one can blame a coach accepting a "better" job (better pay for sure), and I'd suggest that any football team who's coach is a winner can expect to lose that coach when a better offer comes along.
We "thought" we might have another year or two with Coach Fritz, but our GS Eagles won too many (not necessarily the important ones) games too soon during his tenure as the head football coach at Georgia Southern University so his name hit the radar of several teams seeking new leadership..
Looks like the "Go Daddy bowl this year will consist of two teams and zero head football coaches, lol
I just hope our Eagles can give your team a good contest in the Go-Daddy bowl on the 23rd.
A win would be nice....
I hope we have a competitive game, and no one gets hurt seriously.
For those totally unfamiliar with our Georgia Southern Eagles I'd suggest we have a "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" team..
If one shows up, we'll hang in there with ya, and have a reasonable chance of actually winning..
If the other shows up?
Your team will take my team to the woodshed..
And nobody knows which it will be until after the game starts.
Thanks to the administrators for allowing me on this forum..

Px15 get used to it. It seems at this level its a revolving door. If your team is good means so is your coaches, they'll get mega offers. 14 yrs we've seen urban, clawson and dino hoping all would have stayed just a little longer; especially for bowl games. But such is the life here.

Tech2000..
We know.
We lost Coach Monken to Army after beating Fl. in the Gator Bowl.
I think every GS fan hated to see Coach Monken leave, but coaching is a job like any other.
You offer ME twice the money and I'd retire all over again.
All of the "weeping and wailing" and "gnashing of teeth" at the departure of Coach Monken subsided pretty quickly when Coach Fritz came to town, instituted a variation of the beloved "triple option" and our Eagles were successful with it.
Winning calmed a lot of GS fan nerves better than Prozac ever could have, but the flip side is "winning" gets your Coach attention from the "bigger" fish, and soon he's off for greener pastures, or in this case greener waves...
I know Georgia Southern is "off the radar" for most folks, but I assure you it's a desirable "stop" on the coaching carousel. I'm guessing some other "up and coming" coach will show up for a job interviews in Statesboro pretty soon, and perhaps that person will bring his unique brand of offense to our little University and be successful.
And, in a year or two?
LOL
Best Wishes,
J.

I thought we'd get...ideally...two years out of Dino. Since Jinks doesn't have any HC experience and the number of jobs that became open this year was unusually large, I would hope the landscape settles down and it takes three or four years of success for someone to come along waiving the $$$$.
I'm thinking he's here three years before someone like Rice offers him $1.8 million a year and he bolts

I am thinking he has told the wife, 'I'll have you back in Texas in no time!'
