Dieter to transfer
I'm sure some will say I shouldn't post this yet as it is technically a rumor, but tonight I heard from some people in downtown BG bars that Dieter is going to transfer. Specifically to Alabama or wake. I honestly hope it's not true but I wouldn't post anything if I didn't believe my sources, which I cannot identify.

Re: Dieter to transfer
Let's see if this correct -
Year 1 - Attended SMU Year 1
Year 2 - Transferred to BGSU and sat out (as per NCAA rules)
Year 3 - BGSU
Year 4 - BGSU
Does he graduate in May?
YES - Can play immediately elsewhere (as long as they have a graduate program that BGSU does not offer)
NO - Will need to sit out a year (and that would be his fifth year)

Re: Dieter to transfer
It would probably have to be the grad school thing, though I'll be damned if I can figure out the NCAA rules on these things.
Anyway, some remedial Twittering seems to point to Bama. Guess that would mean two BG WRs turning pro this year...

If this is true, this is AWFUL! With Lewis leaving early this would be another massive loss.

Re: Dieter to transfer
College football takes another step towards becoming NFL lite. The graduate transfer rules have created a de facto free agency period. It helped us last year with Hardy....hurts this year if Deiter leaves.
Redding...Moore...and a whole bunch of ????'s. Robbie Rhodes...this is your chance.
I have zero issue with him if he leaves. He'll get a year in an NFL style offense, the use of NFL level facilities and he's going to be in the hunt for a national title. The league will find you if you play in the MAC. If you're in the SEC they don't even need to look for you.
Doesn't apply here, but if I'm MAC head coach who recruits well at the skill positions, they're not sitting that first year. I'm going to play them right away and try to get my maximum useage.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Dieter to transfer
This loss would be a huge blow if he goes. Losing Lewis was tough enough, but having Dieter scheduled to return softened that blow because he is in position to the THE man on offense next year at BG.

Re: Dieter to transfer
Apparently Darrion Landry committed this weekend. If that holds...Dieter's leaving will hurt less

Re: Dieter to transfer
Sucks but I can't blame him if he gets to start at Alabama.
Re: Dieter to transfer
That would be huge if he comes because I heard we were going after him hard. Lewis leaving and Dieter apparently leaving would certainly be a huge reason why.Flipper wrote:Apparently Darrion Landry committed this weekend. If that holds...Dieter's leaving will hurt less

Don't blame Dieter if he decides this but it's purely speculation at this point.

Why would he get to start at Alabama?
How would he know that Alabama wanted him if he wasn't shopping himself while still under scholarship here?
If your Alabama would you use a scholarship on Dieter?

Re: Dieter to transfer
A student has 5 yes to play 4. Obviously a gray or redshirt can extend that time. I don't know if sitting out counts for this. Back in the 80s when I was involved in college athletics it was the basics as previously mentioned. So it almost by this Dieter doesn't have a whole lot of time left

Re: Dieter to transfer
If he graduates this spring or summer... he can do pretty much whatever he wants as a graduate xfer. He's put in four and played three... so he has a year left. If he doesn't graduate... leaving makes no sense.
I could see Bama wanting him...he's got great size and hands. Hell...I think he's as good an NFL prospect as Lewis because his skill set as a pure possession WR that's a threat in the red zone translates more clearly to the NFL

Re: Dieter to transfer
He's listed as a redshirt jr
Re: Dieter to transfer
He is. He's used 4 of his 5 years to play 3 of his 4 years. Next year is it for him. But as Flipper said, if he gets/has his BG degree, he can enroll and play at any school he wants. I'd love for it to be as a Falcon. But if he has a chance to play semi-pro ball at Alabama and improve his visibility, then good luck to him, I wish him the best.Tech2000 wrote:He's listed as a redshirt jr
