Yes kids, only 326 hours to go.

Sounds like there was a good crowd at the scrimmage tonight. Read over the highlights on bgsufalcons.com.

Those of you that were there....thoughts?

Falcon Football...we're bringin' it again. Are you ready?

GO FALCONS!

I think the synopsis on the web is pretty candid. The offense was pretty badly out of sync. Penalties, sacks, tipped balls, lots of dropped balls. I'm not sure the defense was so dominant (althought they made some plays and TJ made some monster hits), but that the offense was just off. I'm sure our guys can see what has to be fixed and will fix it.

Coach Brandon yelled at one point about protecting the "frickin' A-Gap."

As for Cole, he played the first series, seemed OK, and then I didn't see him on the field again. His one ankle was taped a little more.

Nice night. Mosquitoes were the real winners.

Maybe he should recruit some of the girls I've dated... they've protected the "A-Gap" pretty well.

Don't have much to add to what is on bgsufalcons.com but I did have a couple of thoughts. Brantley did look good making those four catches. When the ball came his way he caught it and looked to run after the catch. There was another guy on the second-team offense that dropped a few passes, but I saw in the roster that he is listed as a RB, so maybe he was just switched to WR recently. I will cut him some slack if that is the case. Also, noticed several true freshman were in with the second team units, Haneline at LB and Winovich at TE to name a couple. Finally, with the QBs wearing the blue jerseys (no numbers :x ) I couldn't tell who the backup QBs were. Can someone help me out? Who started with the second team unit, Johnson? Then the next one was wearing a white, long sleeve shirt, Washington? And then the third one was Turner?

Man, TJ Carswell really likes to hit people. I really like having him back there at safety. You can't have a great defense unless you have a safety that's willing to come up and bust somebody in the mouth. (I think Daudre Perry is going to be the same kind of player.) If we can play Keon at the other safety, we'll have possibly the best tandem in the MAC.

I think Omar threw the ball a bit better than he did at the spring game. Overall, it looks like the offense has some definite catching up to do compared to the defense

Flip,

No doubt about Carswell....he will smack anyone around. Good, solid player.

Sounds good. The last thing I want is a pre-season 'comfortable' team. I hope it gave them plenty to work on.

When D. Perry was recruited I thought he could be a great DB. I know he's fast and has good size and football smarts. Good to hear about Carswell. This will be my fix for the next few weeks!

Thanks bg sports fan. By going from the roster, I thought I was right in decifering which one was Washington since he is by far the lightest one. Turner then, is one big, strong guy. While I think in the long run it would be better if Turner red-shirted, I agree that he looked pretty good out there. I can see why Brandon said he is pushing Jacobs pretty hard. Turner looks like a star in the making.

Can't believe I forgot to mention this last night, but when the team was warming up, Coach Brandon was wearing an Oklahoma hat. I think that is an interesting way to give the team a little motivation.

Overall I thought it was a good crowd and a decent event. I really like how in the past few years all of our athletic programs have gone the extra step to become more of a personalized thing for the students and fans. I wasn't at the team photo thing on Saturday so this might be out of step, but could the night before classes scrimage turn into a Midnight Madness type event? Give prizes away to students, have the coach and captains address the crowd... just a thought that went through my head as I glanced at my watch and saw it was 7:15 and all I had seen were some jumping jacks and grunting. . .
