Roger Lewis measured in today at the NFL Combine at 6'0" and 201 pounds, with 32" arm length and 9 3/4 " hands.

BG had him listed on the roster the last two years at 6'2" and 199 pounds.

I kinda figured he'd check in at 6'0, but was curious. I had seen him listed anywhere from 6'0 to 6'2.

I'd say in the first wave of the meat market he's already taken the first hit that I was afraid he may take. Size wasn't a huge part of his game here though, so hopefully it won't hurt him too badly. The 40 time for him is going to be huge. His game was so predicated on downfield routes, it's going to be a major question mark if he doesn't put up a good dash time.

Do WRs run tomorrow or Saturday? I can't remember...

Apparently many of the NFL teams are drilling Lewis about his rape case from a few years ago. With all the domestic violenc, rape and drug issues the NFL has had recently Lewis' issue from a few years ago may have some teams wonder about his character.

All that matters is the 40 for lewis. 6-0 vs 6-2 doesn't matter if he runs a 4.4

My guess is that his agent (if he's worth anything) prepared him extensively for this. What they might ask, how to answer, what demeanor to have, etc.

Those two inches do and will matter in one way shape or form. His weight right now will not. His speed will also be a factor. But the biggest issue will be his ability to prove he can do more than run down deep balls. Has he/can he improve his routes, hands, blocking, ability to come off a jam, etc. He's not going to be competing against college guys anymore, he'll be competing against the best in the world at what he does now.

Lewis has much better speed once he's in stride than he does first-step speed coming out of his starts and breaks. For example, in track comparisons, he looks like he'd have much better times in the 200m than he would the 100m. That may not translate into a great 40 time, but he does run away from guys when he gets past that point (even with the ball in his hands). Whereas a guy like Dri Archer came out of breaks like he was shot out if a cannon, but his top-end speed wasn't as impressive as his start and mid-range speed was. But he had already outdistanced himself from defenders by then that it didn't even matter.

That may be true, but I think most any NFL guys would tell you that the ability to come in/out of breaks is far more important than the top end speed. Case in point, they put a lot of stock in the first 10 yd split of that 40 time. If what you say is true (and I'm not gonna argue it) that, in itself, is a negative.

Anything between 4.45-4.60 would not surprise me with Lewis. If he's in the 4.45 range it'll move him several rounds in the draft, IMO. If he's closer to 4.6 it's gonna hurt him. I'm not "40 time is the be all" guy, by any stretch, but when his film is almost entirely predicated on beating guys deep he has to be able to back that up with speed. His cone drill and agility drills will probably be even more important to many scouts. The guy just didn't run many routes in our offense, doing well in those drills will show his potential for expanding his route tree.

I still think he could go anywhere from the 3rd (gonna have to test off the charts for that) to the 6th. If I were drafting him based on his film I'd probably be looking in that late 4th-5th range. His test results and interview impressions will be HUGE in moving that needle. The off field stuff is a big deal to the NFL, and if you don't open some eyes with your physical talent they're not going to take the chance with ANYTHING in your past, no matter how erroneous. In fact, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if there are several teams that don't even have Lewis on their draft board based purely on the rape allegations.

Roger Lewis has explained to all who will listen- when asked and in an appropriate context- about the matter in question which occurred several years ago. The legal portion of the matter also ran its course and he continued on to school. The NFL knows all of this before he is ever asked though they do listen to his answers.

His years at Bowling Green were uneventful off the field and he exhibited much of the very polite, direct and somewhat playful manner he has shown at the combine on an every day basis at BG. Not just when a microphone or camera was nearby. Nearly all the time. He was a good teammate.

I have no idea where Roger might be drafted or what 40 time he will run. No clue. I will say he was one of the best WR's in BG history and it is too bad we only had him on the field for two seasons. He can get better no doubt. But I totally understand what he is doing. I wish him all the very best and he is well aware of both the magnitude of the opportunity he received at BG and the impact of the BGSU team and community on his life.

In being around Roger, I would expect he will always be a Falcon and keep us close as he goes through life. Roger has also made progress toward his degree and I know he will be considering steps in that area at a later date. Football is key at this very moment obviously.

I just flipped it on to see Lewis' 2nd run. 4.59 and 4.62 certainly doesn't help the cause.
