Anyone read the article in the Blade yesterday about Jim Tressel. It was talking about how Youngstown State in the last year he was there was put on probation for paying athletes for summer jobs and other incentives along with allow athletes to drive cars given to them by dealerships. WOW, does this sound familair.

Notice how YSU has gone into the dumps since Tressel left? I remember when we lived in the Ytown area and all these idiots said YSU would win the MAC in football EVERY year.

I used to tell them it was one thing to beat Kent and/or Akron, but try beating the rest of the MAC.
I wrote letters to the Ytown Vindicator supporting the MAC and I got trashed for it. Especially by this joker, Pete Mollica. ANyone from that area, does that choch nugget still "write" for that paper?

ESPN brought that up a long time ago, in one of their little articles once clarrett first made his allegations. But, They said it was a booster on ESPN.com and it had nothing to do with tressel or his staff. I didnt read the blade article so i do not know if they also said it was a booster or not, but ESPN's did. it did not say, however, wether YSU had dissassociated itself with the booster and banned him from campus which is what Ohio State has said they are going to do once all investigations are completed.
I also heard Lee Corso say during the Alamo Bowl that he does not believe OSU will be penalized but they will have an eye on them for a year or two. He also added that they will be serious national title contenders wether you like it or not.

Umm... technically Pete *still* writes for the Vindicator. Except all the writers are on strike now. So, in order to read Pete's "writings" you'll have to check out the Valley Voice, their strike newspaper.

For those interested, here's the link to the article I think that is being discussed.

Note: The article is written by John Harris.

I didn't realize that John Cooper had such a rough time recruiting? His problems weren't with recruiting, it was in coaching and winning big games.
I think the article lets Tressel off too nicely as well. The "boy scout" image of tOSU and Tressel is being tarnished rapidly and his inability ot adjust at halftime, develop players and open the offense is beginning to wear thin on supporters and recruits.

I didn't read the article, but did it explain how a booster acting illegally with members of the football team has "nothing to do with" the head football coach or his staff?

heard tonight on 610WTVN, that the NCAA is very encouraged by tosu's re-orgainzation (or what ever it is called) and the NCAA said it could be used as a model for them to insitute at other schools or use as a standard to 'judge' other schools.
guess Andy is putting some real effort into it . . . . before he leaves.

Is re-organization another term for giving the cars back to the dealerships?

I am just glad folks are finally waking up and smelling the coffee. Some were so quick to blame Clarrett and believe Tressel could do no wrong. I think the Troy Smith incident shed alot of light on the real truth. Now, the AD is going to run and hide.

because it was what they call a "road booster" he is not part of the university, i believe that he did not even graduate from OSU. he was a rich columbus business man who had bought one of the suites from ohio stadium. that is how he has nothing to do with the school or the program, they are just getting his money. that's it. he has nothing to do with tressel because it has never been acknowledged, or proven that he arranged for troy smith to seek this guy out and take money from him. the booster acted on his own. OSU will also be excused from this because they have a program for all players and all boosters that explains the rules /what you are not allowed to do. smith and the booster had both been through the program according to Geiger so that will help excuse them and show that it was not tressel's doing or the school's. just some idiot rich booster
