The write up actually shows BG quite a bit of respect, which I appreciate. The comments section is another animal, but that's to be expected. Without a QB already determined, it's hard to have a lot of faith in an upset, but I do like the amount of experience we have coming back overall.

Good write up...their fans are, well, osu fans. Is an upset possible? Hell yeah. Sure it will be a monumental challenge but why the hell not?

I too thought it was a good article, it was straight forward but not condensending. I will say though that for knapke playing behind Matt I have seen a huge improvement from 2014 when he took over to now. He seems a lot more comfortable running with authority when he needs to and passes similarly. Osu may be in a for a big surprise even if they study his only year playing. I feel 2 totally different people. I hope!

So is it settled that Knapke has the job?

Won't really know until August but I have liked from where he was to where he is. Almost like a mini Matt on the field

No, I think Coach Jinks is still evaluating but I would be very surprised if Kman doesn't win the starting job....even as good as Morgan could be. Kman did a solid job in 2014 and is a BiG kid at 6'2", 237. Strong arm as well.

We MUST take care of the ball, TACKLE and not commit penalties. Even though osu only has 6 starters back, they have athleticism all over the place. We all know they are loaded with 5* recruits. They will have a huge home crowd advantage. They have Urban Meyer who will, no doubt, pound into their heads the need to focus on a MAC team...just look at last year. He of all coaches should know. Play better for 60 minutes and we can win. That is the key...60 minutes. This is a game that can snowball quickly (ala Wisky in 2014) if we mess up. Let their inexperience affect them. 57 days.

You forgot special teams. For once I'd like to see a BG team start the season looking like they have practiced ST before.

If they do win easily I doubt Meyer lets it get bad.

If.....make that IF....Johnson had applied and was granted a 6th year, and Lewis didn't leave for the NFL, and Dieter didn't transfer to Alabama, and Babers was back for another season, and BG played pretty much a mistake-free football (no turnovers and executed well), then I'd say BG had a slim chance. But, Johnson didn't apply, Lewis left for the NFL, DIeter is in Tuscaloosa and Babers is in Syracuse, and no way do I expect BG to play anywhere close to mistake-free football with so many HUGE losses at key positions. This matchup was a year too late for BG (although it was promising on the flip side vs OSU). If we could take the 2015 BG team and play them vs the 2016 OSU team, I'd give BG a slim shot. Oh yeah, and then there's the fact they have a QB who is a tremendous runner, which has been a recipe for disaster for BG (see our last game). I'd LOVE to frickin' see BG beat OSU for a shitload of reasons, but there's just no way I can see it happening.

I think we'll get embarrassed in the first half and then Urban will pull back a little....they'll have a lot of new guys hungry to show what they can do and trying to win jobs...there won't be any letdown or overlooking BG.

In my opinion the 2015 team wasn't that good...big difference beating Purdue and Maryland vs beating OSU. BG really struggles against good coaching (who doesn't really) and any type of good offense. Tennessee was fairly close because they aren't well coached...they recruit well, underachieve and then use the "we're really young" excuse. They'll do the same thing this year.
Really amazing how people look back on the past and have selective memory....we were okay....won a really bad MAC East and got a huge break playing NIU in the championship. 2016 OSU would crush that team...and they'll likely beat up on this years team....really doesn't matter...just stay healthy and get ready for you're winnable games.

Five conferences shooting for four slots...the days of catching a top ten team napping at the start of the year are over, the stakes are too high. I think we'll probably get fustigated. Take the loss, try and stay healthy and cash the check...

Aw hell...why even play? Just ask for the check and take a forfeit. Could we get steamrolled? Absolutely. It could happen....However, any game can be won or lost and I know Coach Jinks is really looking forward to the challenge, as are our players. Funny...how many threads have been on this site thru the years saying "One year, a MAC team will beat Ohio State". In Urban's words from 2001, "Why not us? Why not now?"

Stay close as long as possible and anything can happen...especially in week 1. They aren't loaded across the board with returning starters so don't underestimate inexperience. Yeah, we lost a ton from the O but we also have a brand new coaching staff, which Urban hasn't seen. They have 6 starters back....total. yeah they have 5* recruits all over the place. Those guys will be much better at the end of the season than week 1. We play the best we can for 60 minutes and go after it. But I refuse to say f*%k it and move on...a win would be the biggest in school history. And we would be THEE story on GameDay and ESPN for the week.

Another stat I found...of the 85 schollie players on the osu roster, 44 have never played a down in college football. Over 50% have no game experience.
