@JordanStrack
BGSU Football: Sources tell me DB Clint Stephens will likely miss the 2016 season with a knee injury. Big blow to the secondary.

Not the news you wanted to hear today.

Wow, that hurts. At least Clint Stephens is a good example for the young guys on the team. He had to step up as a true freshman in 2014 and he has been excellent for us. I am sure any young player on the team can learn a lot from Stephens' work ethic and attitude.

BTW quick note: last year's roster is still loaded on the website. According to the roster, we had 16 DBs last year, only 3 of which had taken a redshirt year. Now that 16 figure includes 5 freshmen. That all means 1) our defensive backs have been required to play early due to lack of depth the last few years and 2) if all 5 of those freshmen redshirted, we hopefully can build a trend of older, more conditioned defensive backs instead of starting kids like Stephens in 2014 fresh out of high school. I feel like it has been a long, long time since we have had considerable depth at DB - going back to at least 2012. If the five freshman last year pan out, we may be laying the foundation for real depth.

Edit: I looked it up. Of the 5 freshmen, only Jones and Sotolongo redshirted. The other three played some. Bozeman and Jackson in 11 games, Milton in 10. So 2 redshirts is better than none. It is telling that you have to play 3 true freshmen in the secondary.

SOB! That is a huge loss. The last few seasons we have really struggled with quality depth at CB and just can't seem to gain much traction. To say Will Watson's return was beneficial would now be an understatement. We took a hit at CB last season again when Hunter went down and this is also another time where the loss of Nick Johnson two seasons ago still stings. That kid had star written all over him gaining All-MAC honors as a frosh. Let's hope someone else rises up in camp as a potential option in the mix.
