New seats?

Post by Class of 61 »

Don't know if anyone else is following the progress at the Doyt, but while looking to see if new turf had been started, i was surprised to see what appears to be new SEATS on W. Side of stadium.
Under the lighting, they appear to be red, but i'm pretty sure ORANGE. Is the color. Either way, looks like a whole new look.

I also commented on the Doyt Cam thread. To me they appear pink.

I stopped by the Doyt tonight to take a close-up look at the stadium. I am very sorry to report that it looks to me like they are putting the old "pink" seats back in the stadium. What a downer! :axe:

That's disappointing. At the very least they could've painted them orange while they were being removed from the grandstands.

Here's hoping they don't replace the brown chair seats on the east side either, or if they do, with something similar. If they put the "pink" version on the east side, it's bye, bye season tickets after almost 50 years!
Weren't the "pink" chairs replaced once after they faded? Why not again? Were they a GC addition? Could he be fined for negligence? ;-)

I'd pay twice the going rate for me and my family for the chance to purchase season tickets (and attend) whether it be in pink, fuchsia, mauve, or otherwise!

Not sure about those colors, but the old "bleacher look"appears to be going , replaced by individual seats. My concern is that ROWS seem to be vanishing, and , from where theyre working, my end seats on 50 seem to be going with them.

If your reports on colors are true, makes NO sense at all! Do it right, not on the cheap. Will handrails finally appear too?

Factman,

Im not positive but fairly sure they were going to eplace the brown seats too. My only concern is what i alluded too re: looks like seats have gone PAST the old 50 yd line area of my seats. Doesnt make a lot of sense, but single seats unto themselves aren't a bad idea over bleacher seats.

Still think handrails should be done.

I stopped out at the Doyt today to check out progress on the stadium. The "pink" seats are indeed in place, but...........there are 4 chairs that have been "recoated, painted" or something that look pretty good . Maybe there is hope. Now for the other new chair seats that have started to be installed to replace the old brown chair seats. The good news is that they look good , if we get rid of the "pink" color behind them. The bad news is that if you weigh over 200#, you will not like them. They are considerably narrower than the ones they are replacing and downright uncomfortable and tight for any of us big folk. I can tell you that there are plenty of fans that will not even be able to sit in them. I have no idea why they went to a narrower seat, because the wider "OLD" ones are much more comfortable for ALL body types. We certainly don't need the extra seating!

Fact man,

Didn't you hear the news?? BGSU is teaming up with Delta and American Airlines. They are starting a new health movement for people to get in better shape and shed some pounds. I've flown on the new Delta and American jets over the past few months and their new seats are 2 inches narrower.

All those involved in the decision to purchase these seats should have their desk chairs changed out with the plastic perches. I would rather sit on the bleacher seats.

Seriously considering giving up my chair seats that we have had for 50 years!

I am sticking with the bleacher seats in row 40. Good location....

I mean seriously....how do you mess up chair backs? Wouldn't you test the seats before installing them? Seems like another problem that could be avoided by people just doing their job. Maybe we need some people with common sense making decisions?
