What game was Jinks watching that he though it should have been 18-0 or 35-3 at half time?

And outside of the 2 home run balls on blown coverage, where does he see Knapke throwing for 600 yards?

Seems a bit delusional to me. Is he basing this just off of the fact that we are FCS and not FBS? Not impressed with those kinds of comments from a coach after he squeaks out a win like that.

I can understand your frustration. He probably should have done more to praise your program. That would have been the polite thing to do.

On the other hand, given the number of turnovers, it isn't crazy to think that Bowling Green could have built a much bigger lead. Fans are frustrated, and I think he is trying to speak to those frustrations.

(I can remember driving back from Purdue when we beat them last year and listening to local sports talk. Fans were ready to jump out of windows. They couldn't stop talking about how terrible Purdue football was. Not one stopped to praise our team, and never mind the fact that we had beaten Maryland a couple of weeks earlier. It's not fair, but this is what happens in these kind of games.)

In other news...

The biggest news for me in that news conference was Coach JInks's statement that Knapke was lucky he didn't get yanked again in the second half. It probably sounds worse repeating it here on this message board than when Jinks said it, but I do wonder if that was wise.

Jinks seems to be walking a balance between saying Knapke is the No. 1 guy and challenging both Knapke and Morgan to keep working hard. I hope both young men respond to it.

No disrespect meant toward UND. Remember, the only first half UND TD was a pick six. That was a poor throw, a self inflicted wound. Had that drive resulted in a BG TD instead of a UND TD, the game would quickly be out of reach for UND as the running game would have been much less of an option.

We made mistakes. Major mistakes. And UND capitalized on every one of them.

I thought ND was a solid team...they were ranked #25 in FCS, IIRC. 18 starters back this year? That team can play. We made a lot of mistakes and good teams take advantage of opponents' mistakes. And they played to win in the final seconds...gutsy.

I thought the play calling in the 2nd half lended itself to UND keeping close. Only threw 11 passes and ran way too many dive type plays that were easy to defend. UND definitely played a spirited game and they have good talent at many positions, but I do feel BG were their own worst enemy at letting them hang around.

Did we run any RB screen passes at all? Coppet has shown he can catch and I bet Cleveland running behind a wall of blockers got eat up chunks of yardage.

I remember the one sprint screen we got the TD but not many bubble or drag screens for the WR either.

Screens and draws are great ways to get some yardage, keep the D honest, and most importantly get some completions and boost the QB's confidence.

We started with screens to the backs. They went nowhere and we didn't call them again. I think the plan was to get the ball in the air down field early and often.
