Breaking ground on the SAC & photo updates?

Does anyone know the official date they are supposed to break ground on the building of the SAC? Are the bleachers in the north end zone still standing, because those will have to come out first before they start work I would assume? Another thing I was going to mention was, it would be awesome once the project gets underway if Grant could add a spot on the multi-media link with project update photos for those of us far away. Any thoughts?

The bleachers will still be there next fall -- don't look for any construction soon. There's still money to be raised and lots of work to do on the building designs, documents, engineering, etc. Groundbreaking is many months in the future. Sorry to dim your excitement.

My understanding was they are attempting to use nothing but private funds to build it, maybe they're still short on money?

I would suggest if you want some info on the whole deal, I would email the Athletic Department and find out what the deal is. According to the official athletic site, it still says that it will be completed in 2006.

That's when I thought it was going to be done by too, which led me to believe they would have to start construction soon???

I know from my experience here at Virginia, when they recently renovated the stadium and bowled one of the endzones, the stadium was an eye sore during the one season because of all the construction going on. But the media seemed to enjoy all the "stairways to heaven" that went into the sky to nothing at the time. :) We played one season through the construction, but once it was finished, man, what an awesome stadium it became!

I am not sure how accurate this is but I was told last week at the Buffalo game by one of the members of the BGSU staff that the final documents would be submitted in May, with groundbreaking in July. Work would still be done as the season goes in football but it would not affect the end zone bleachers. I was then told the following year the bleachers would be taken down and "New" bleachers would be placed in front of the scoreboard and move the tent to the NW corner opposite the BG Tunnel. When all said and done the bleachers would stay under the scoreboard, new bushes and trees would be planted over there as well. And once the SAC is built, concrete stands would come down from the building to the base of the end zone.

Like I said I am not sure about the starting date and everything, but I did like hearing the ideas about the end zone seating

Not sure if I got the spelling right of his last name, but I talked with Assistant/Assoc. AD Scott Seelinger at the WMU-BG game Saturday and he said to me that groundbreaking would be late August 2005 (at the very latest for the SEBO center. It is a go, just finalizing rest of the funding and finishing the plans).

We dont need to worry about it, it is still being built.

Thanks for all the updates about the project. I really like the idea of taking the north bleachers out for the new building and replacing them with new ones in the south end zone. I also like the idea of where they will be moving the tent and the news about new trees and shrubs is awesome. Some of these issues are ideas we talked about on this board.

I wish this news was somehow made available to all of us who want to know. Maybe it's not something they can publish, but then again, I guess they wouldn't be talking about it openly in public either if it wasn't something that could be discusses. Either way, keep the updates coming. I for one love hearing about the progress.
