Post by BGSU33 »

Syracuse has hired a coach. It looks like we might just get to hang onto Brandon for at least another year! :supz:

Like I said before, I will say Brandon is our coach when he is standing on the sideline in Madison on Sept 3. You never know when some idiot is gonna pull the next Ric Neuhiesel-Mike Price type incident and be shown the door. BTW, former Colorado kicker Katie Gnida was on TV again talking about her sexual assualt at Colorado. Don't know if anything will come of it. But if Barnett was forced out, I think Brandon would surely be a candidate and he would be interested in the head job in Boulder.

There was an article on Katie this morning about her new claims but I did not read it. Not sure if it is still there or not.

Barnett became one of my favorite non-BG coaches a couple of weeks ago when, in reference to Katie Gnida he said:

"She was a girl. But not only was she a girl, she was also a terrible kicker. I mean, she couldn't even put it through the uprights."

That almost made me wet myself.

Glad you enjoyed it. I thought it was about the dumbest thing I have ever heard from a coach. The idiot rationalized everything that happened, and his lack of support, by saying that she was a bad kicker. Who gives a rat's ass how good she was at kicking a football throught the uprights!? Refute her claims, don't attack her.

I saw her on SportsCenter last night...she's pretty hot. But that in no way justifies any of what she alleges, if found to be factual.

Maybe Maurice and Katie should hook up. They both want to take down their coaches.

Agreed. Show some class and integrity. What he did was present a bad example for his team.

Coach Barnett will not be fired for what is going on right now. If he were going to be fired, it would have happened last spring when this whole thing started. They are rehashing things that have already been known.

I don't know guys. I'll admit that I don't know everything about this situation, but it seems to me that Barnett has been cleared on all of this, yet this girl is determined to take him down. And, based on some of her comments in the past, it has always sounded to me like she was more bitter about not getting to play and these allegations seemed to pop up afterward. Plus, I know several people who live in the Boulder area and all of them have told me that it was nothing more than a feminist witch hunt. I just don't buy anything she says anymore, and I can understand why Barnett would be fed up to the point of making a comment like that. I think for him, its not about these false allegations, its about the media giving a terrible kicker a forum to continue harassing him.

But I could be wrong and I'm sure you'll all tell me and remind me of how insensitive I am...

Regardless of whether this girl is credible or not, He should be taking the high road. Her skills are not relevant to the situation and he should be setting an example by handling the situation with dignity and class.

87, I realize what you are saying, but to me this whole thing has gotten absolutely ridiculous. I can't help but think how I would feel if I were in Barnett's situation. I mean, what the hell is this girl doing giving national T.V. interviews about this situation for right now? Everytime she opens her mouth she screams louder so that someone will listed to her, and everytime she does Barnett gets more and more questions about it from the media when he would rather focus on his team. All coaches should take the high road as much as possible, no doubt. This girl, however, is doing everything she can to put a roadblock on it. What should he do when she comes out in 6 months and says that Barnett personally beat her?

I honestly don't know why he hasn't sued her for character defamation yet, and I wouldn't be at all suprised if it comes to that soon.

Actually he made that dumb-ass remark back when the scandal first came to light, not a couple of weeks ago. That comment was the reason he was suspended until the internal investigation was completed (or almost completed).

She has no reason to lie. Hell, she didn't say a word for over two years about anything. I can't blame her for speaking up now when other ladies claim the same thing happened to them. She didn't appear to be out to get Barnett, just stating that he supported his male players over her if an allegation would have been brought forth (and he did).

I'm off the soap box now.

It would be kind of weird if Barnett, Big 12 coach of the year, were indeed fired. Has that ever happened before? A coach of the year fired?
Can't wait to make the trip up for a home game very soon.

I think that quote was made LAST YEAR, when all the original charges were being made, not several weeks ago.... either way, he could've handled it better than he did, but I'm almost positive that the quote you refer to was made last year.

That could very well be true. All I saw was the interview on Sportscenter when I flipped it on and missed the beginning. I just assumed it was recent. In that case, yes the comments were inappropriate. I still think this whole thing is ridiculous.
