Say it ain't so...........Sad day for the MAC

With Western Michigan undefeated and the top ranked group of five teams as of last week.
This weeks latest College Football Playoff rankings has two teams ranked above Western of the group of five. A one loss Boise State and a two loss Houston team both jumped ahead of Western. Now Western is ranked higher in the AP and Coaches poll. Not sure which one bowls use to make selection for their bowls.
Sad day for the MAC knowing that you potentially could go undefeated and absolutely nothing...............
I'm sure that a one loss Boise or a two loss Houston will get selected for the New Years Day game for the Top Group of Five teams. It's sad to know that you can win ALL your games in a division 1 spot and what go you get? Not a shot a national title, not even a shot against one the power five teams. Probably some cheesy bowl against the Sun Belt Champion. Only sport in College that you can't win a National Title and you know it going in no matter how hard you work. Every other athlete in the MAC outside of Football has a chance, though small chance whether team or individual sports THEY HAVE A CHANCE.
Here's to pulling for Western to Play on New Years Day

Yup...it's pretty frustrating. Problem is, Western didn't beat anyone.....NW is their best win with a 50 rpi. TV wants Houston....that's who they'll get

Agreed. It is a crock of sheet that WMU is ranked FOURTEENTH in the AP poll ahead of both BSU and Houston and yet not in the CFP ratings. I am rooting for WMU to wipe the floor with tsun. Then rooting for Air Force to beat Boise State and Memphis to beat Houston.
College football at the FBS is a sham and everyone knows it.
GO WMU!!!!! Row away...

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the fine print says G5 champ. If that is the case, Houston is out, they can't win the AAC. Wyoming has the tie breaker with Boise, so as long as the Cowboys beat New Mexico then Boise can not win the MWC. If needing to win the conference is in fact a requirement, then Wesetrn is in great shape and will be bringing a fat paycheck back to the MAC.

It all unfortunately makes sense when you spin it from a monetary stand point. These large bowls don't want a Mac team there because there won't be enough people to travel to make total financial sense. Ticket purchases, hotel etc. Unless the school can put let's say enough to fill up half the stadium the Mac is stuck to smaller bowls. Yes, there has been Mac schools that made it, niu for one, but I remember hearing the announcers talking about the lack of niu spectators. Yes, the bowl can reallot the tickets not sold but timing can be an issue to sell them all. They will figure how to keep them out as long as they can, unfortunately.

Western will get the bid unless Wyoming loses. Houston is head and shoulders better than WMU. they just found a funk for a couple of games. Western has played nobody! I would like to see those two play each other.

Those rankings are absurd. Louisville, Oklahoma and Houston are all 9-2. Houston beat both Louisville and Oklahoma easily but is ranked way behind both of them. If Oklahoma winds up in the playoffs some team is going to have an easy first game. The BiG 12 sucks but Oklahoma is a big name so they rank them high.

But i'm hoping a win vs a 9-2 Toledo team might help turn the table a bit. Not to mention winning the West. Yes, the MAC is down a bit, not just the East. But there are still 6 "bowl eligible "teams ( not that I think 6-6 records should get you a bowl). But if some of the "power 5 " teams could get in at 5-7, don't want to hear complaints about 6-6 MAC teams.

You have to be a conference champ so Houston is already out. Houston could be ranked #10 and it still won't matter because they didn't win their conference.
Boise is ranked one spot higher than WMU but currently Wyoming is leading it's conference. Boise would need to win this weekend against Air Force and then have Wyoming lose to New Mexico and then Boise would need to win it's title game. A win by Wyoming this weekend and a win today by WMU and in the MACC game then WMU will be going to Cotton Bowl.

Which is a bit ridiculous...Houston would fustigate WMU.

Even if they had a somewhat softer schedule, Western Michigan won every game. In my mind, that means they deserve the New Year's Day bowl game.

Regardless what Houston would do to Western. Gotta take of your own business.
Houston getting worked by an unranked Memphis team at half. To much Tom Herman talk leaving effecting team play........ I think so.
Door getting a little bit wider for Western to walk through.

Memphis scored in last few seconds to beat Houston 48-44. That was an exciting game.
