BG made a change to its schedule for next year. BG now opens the season on the road next year, at Michigan State on Saturday September 2. Originally that game was to be September 9. BG opens on the road and its home opener is now September 9.

Is the home opener still South Dakota?

The team for the home opener is still the same. Just the two dates were swapped.

MSU is coming off a horrible year and their best player...DL Malik McDowell...is heading off to the NFL. We could steal one on them

Odd scheduling was MSU started the season with a BYE. And then played 12 straight weeks. Now they have their BYE in week 2. Lol. I would rather have had a game under our belt before facing the Spartans. Then again MSU will not have any 2017 film on our team.

Maybe if their team couldn't get the bus to the stadium and they had to forfeit.

Good game to schedule though...get a decent payday and allow your fans a short trip. The more MW paydays the better.

The Falcons might be another year away. But anything is possible. Urban Meyer's first team beat Missouri out of the gate. Things happen.

Certainly last year's Falcons would have had a real shot against next year's Spartans.

I think it's only fair to say BOTH teams are coming off rather horrible years. But even in a down year for MSU, they still only lost to Ohio State by 1 point and were a failed 2-point conversation away from beating them. They also hung close with Michigan. BG's 3-game winning streak to end the year was nice, but let's not kid ourselves, it was vs three teams equally as bad as BG, or slightly worse. We've also lost another decent sized core of important seniors. If this was our 2015 team going into MSU in the opener I'd say we could make it very interesting. But 2017? Um, not so much. And if we expect to line up and run, run, run at MSU like we did vs Akron, Kent State and Buffalo to end the year, then we have another thing coming. As for the switch, I really hope we were financially rewarded for making this change as I really liked opening the year at home vs a team we could hopefully beat to start the season off with a possible win. This change only helps MSU, not BG.

"Any game can be won or lost"...the Great Doyt Perry. This is change is ok with me so we don't have to go on the road 3 straight weeks.

Our coaching staff hadn't a clue in the month of September....not a clue. Thus the blood baths in Columbus and Memphis. Next year will be interesting.

Plan on having a big group go to this game next year, so earlier the better I suppose.
