So the MAC media day will be at the Pro Football Hall of Fame next month.

I can remember a time when some of us fans thought Canton would be a pretty decent place to play the MAC football championship game.

The fact that this event is in Canton makes me wonder if there is some kind of announcement afoot, although I can't imagine what that might be. I can't imagine our title game leaving Detroit at this point, for example.

I agree this is interesting, especially considering they are rebuilding that football stadium and it would be a way more ideal size (although exposed to the weather) than Ford Field. It looks like it will be a beautiful facility http://www.profootballhof.com/village/stadium/

If we can play on a 70 yard field we could play the MAC Championship game in the new Little Caesar's Arena. Imagine how loud that would be squeezing in 20,000 fans.

More seriously: Another idea that comes to mind is of putting one MAC game in Canton every year -- say, a November game, kind of like what Bowling Green did with Buffalo once in Columbus. With the state high school championships being played in Columbus as often as not anymore (at least last time I checked), the city might appreciate the chance to see some good football up close. It's a nice-sized stadium, and the Hall of Fame would give the TV crew all kinds of stuff to talk about.

I've always thought there was a great parallel between the early, Ohio-centric, small-town NFL and today's MAC. Both show Ohio's passion for football.

Crowds numbering in the hundreds during the meat of the season says "passionate about football"?

I would be completely against another neutral site home game against a MAC opponent. I know what the hope was with that game, but it was a bad idea. The neutral site game in Cleveland vs Wisconsin was fun, we probably still lost money but it was a least a good crowd.
A neutral site MAC game wouldn't draw well. NE Ohio is high school and OSU territory. I can't think of a matchup that would draw anywhere close to 10,000 fans. Maybe Akron/Kent if both teams were having good years?

FWIW, the state HS games are back in Canton this yr. (and next). Great to hear. And ALL playoff games to be played on Fridays.

the HOF is about 15 min from me in Green and man is this stadium gonna be the sheet. The whole area is going to be the NFL's version of Disneyworld. The new stadium is moving along.

Maumee Bay Turf from my hometown of Oregon, OH is installing the field there. Looks sharp!

I don't think I realized how much money they were putting into that football stadium. I wonder if a bowl game could work there.

The size of the stadium and the community reminds me of Mobile. Obviously, the weather in Canton isn't great in December, but it isn't great in the New York or Boise, either. Plus there are the intangibles of playing a game in an NFL facility (more or less).
