Camp is open!
First practice of camp was this morning and we're 30 days from the season. I'll post relevant stories here throughout August to keep everyone posted on the latest happenings. What storylines are you most intrigued by before the season?

Offensive line development, receivers, DBs, and the methods of the coaching staff - do they look like they've grown into their roles?

No injuries, New DL & OL, WR's cutting down the drops. Jmo's development...He reminds me of Ty Sheehan a bit. Struggled some his Frosh year like TS. Coaches growth.
Should be a fun season...tee up the damn ball.

Re: Camp is open!
33 turnovers total last year. Sheet, cut them down to 20 or less and you could win at least 3 more games. I've never seen a BG team turn it over as badly as last year. JMo needs to take the next step in development and that is a huge key for him. Can he cut that down? The WR's need to catch the ball this year as well.jpfalcon09 wrote:Quinn Thomas who is a Perrysburg native has left the team.

I'm praying that we put up a fight in every game we play, and we never surrender incredibly high point totals again. I hope the defense is improved, and I hope that the offense can keep the turnovers to a minimum this year. All I need to see from the 2017 Falcons is a competitive, physical football team that has a desire to be there.

To bounce off your point, I cannot say in enough ways how important the first game of the season is in setting the team's tone. Just take a look back at a few cases ...
2006: played hard against Wisconsin but ultimately the offense was too one dimensional. The lack of passing efficiency hurt the team all year.
2007: major win over Minnesota where the defense came up when they had to and the offense looked at times unstoppable. The 2007 offense was exciting year long and games were decided largely on if the defense could get the early stops.
2010: tough, close loss to Troy. The team that year didn't have the experience to play four full quarters.
2012: hung hard with Florida, played great team defense, some missed opportunities on offense and special teams. Story of the season.
2014: defense was MIA against WKU. Defense gave up records seemingly every week that year.
2016: utter blowout where the team looked like they didn't belong on the same field with misfires and poor positioning all over the place. The team took such a major step back in terms of production and perception throughout the season.
A good effort against MSU will go a long way this year.

Re: Camp is open!
Couldn't agree more...especially for a young team with a coaching staff with only a year under its belt with the program. The message has to be sent that this year will be different and that begins with a solid showing at Sparty in 23 days.MarkL wrote:To bounce off your point, I cannot say in enough ways how important the first game of the season is in setting the team's tone.
