I remember when Urban Meyer went out to Missouri and beat the Tigers in his very first game as a head coach after Gary Blackney's six straight losing seasons. So anything can happen. Bowling Green could win this.

Even so, if I have to guess, I would guess that Michigan State wins 31 to 10. I foresee Bowling Green's defense showing some fight, but Sparty pulling away late. Optimists and pessimists will both have material to work with after this game, and we won't have a better measure of where we really are until after the Middle Tennessee game.

I'm not sure what we'll see from this team. I usually have some kind of sense of what to expect from a team going in to a season, but this year I really don't. I don't see any reason we can't be competitive most of the way, but I think their ground game will be too much for our defense to hold up against for 4 quarters and MSU pulls away late.

One thing I'm confident in predicting is that we won't have a repeat of last year's opener.

BG competes and covers but Sparty's size is too much for four quarters.

Sparty is still Sparty....BIG, physical and a hell of a trio in their backfield. Yeah they went 3-9 last year and have had a lot of serious issues with the program. They could come out so pissed off...well. Or, this could be the best time to catch them in an upset. They only return 8 starters. But they averaged about an 11-2 record the last 4 years and were a national player until last year. I think Narduzzi leaving for Pitt has some effects. IF we can at least slow down their ground game, we will have a legit chance because I think our offense will move the ball and score. If we end up on roller skates, well, it could be a long day.

The old advice applies...wrap up and TACKLE, no stupid penalties and for the love of Doyt Perry, NO TURNOVERS. Play smart and play hard. I think we have a shot at the upset.

My head says 42-24 MSU. My heart says 29-24 BG.

Saw a statistic on the UM Scout board . . . with Cook and Cousins (the two legit NFL caliber QBs) Sparty has been like 34-9 or something pretty solid. With everyone else they are 15-23 . . . I forget the numbers, but the point is . . . I'm close and Brian Lewerke isn't going to be playing on Sundays. The only offensive player that will be is LJ Scott.

The defense has been decimated by Dantonio's fondness for "under the radar Ohio kids," rape suspensions and their captain (Reschke) just being a dick . . (racist filled rant of teammate who in equally dickish fashion nailed Capt Capt my Capt's girlfriend)

I really like Jinks, I think Morgan has a little bit of a coming out party and the defense is improved.

Sparty 31 BG 37 with a late stand to hold on

Realistically I expect to lose by two to three possessions where MSU puts together a back breaking drive late to finish it. I expect we will look far better than last year at this time, we will make MSU earn it, and the game will have no bearing on the overall season. We simply do not have the defensive depth to go four quarters so an upset would require an utterly flawless game.

I was nearly spot-on, unlike Morgan's accuracy and completion percentage today. :o
